During the last few weeks of school, 6 students in Mrs Flynns high school Art 1 class painted the very first piece of art for the "Art on Main" Project. This mural is the first of many pieces of art which will decorate an alley on Main street in downtown Reading. The students wanted to use and blend a variety of bright colors. The subject of the painting is inspired by Michigan sunsets and the Readingmichigan.org logo.

To make this first mural a success, Reading High school art teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Flynn and HS students Rylee Gingrich, Angler Riddle, Lyra Wortman, Milly Dombrowski, Matthew McConnell, and Seth Rowland worked alongside and coordinated with the "art on main" group -comprised of artists, Reading city employees and community members.

The finished painting will be stored until site work on the ground at the location is completed.

Upcoming mural activities, how to join and more information about the Art on Main Project can be found on the City of Reading page and Readingmichigan.org
