Last week, RI State Police released a new policy governing the use of Flock and other automated license plate readers (ALPRs). But no amount of regulation can change the fact that the spread of ALPRs is a symptom of the wider racist, capitalist system of American policing.

With police and ICE terror posing a continual threat to the safety of our communities, the need to curb the power of the police to surveil, target, and terrorize us is urgent.

The new statewide guidance pretends as if the police are capable of policing themselves. But ALPRs are only the latest technology in an enduring police system that will always reinforce itself, by any means necessary.

Grads are ready to fight for fair wages and safe working conditions!

This Saturday, during Brown Parents’ Weekend, the GLO held an informational picket after 10-months of bad-faith bargaining from Brown.

Adrianna, co-chair of the union’s barganining team, spoke to the stakes of the struggle, including the importance of protections around sexual assault given the effects on grads currently and the recent events at Cornell.

Workers are also demanding that fellows, who are legally recognized as employees by Rhode Island law, be added into the bargaining unit.

Brown and RISD students have taken the streets, joined by Providence community members, to demand justice for Nolan Wells and Kohen Wiley! Nolan Wells didn’t drown, police executing 1 year old Kohen could never possibly be justified, and we are fed up with the racist capitalist system that is trying to sweep both these murders under the rug.

RIGHT NOW: GLO workers are on the picket line demanding a fair contract! Brown has offered 0 raises in one of the most unaffordable cities in the country and is trying to strip workers of their rights, including independent arbitration for sexual assault knowing the university can’t be trusted for accountability.

Palestine has transformed global consciousness. AIPAC, once a controlling force in US politics, has had to retreat from endorsing candidates, a testament to the strength of our movement and the disgust with zionism and genocide.

Meanwhile, the US war machine has escalated its attacks on the middle east, and both the majority of government and corporate institutions continue to arm and fund zionism. The fight for a free Palestine continues — what’s next for the movement?
