This fall, Spurwink has worked hard to prepare for upcoming state and local elections (taking place Tuesday, November 3) by raising awareness among legislators about issues impacting Maine families.

Our goal is to elevate behavioral health and community service priorities with policymakers and those seeking public office.

Special thank you to The Stuff Coalition, who supported our Holiday Gift Drive and Thanksgiving Meals in Kennebec and Somerset Counties! đź’š

The Stuff Coalition of Kennebec Valley is a group of partners and community members convened by the Kennebec Valley Community Action Program to expand access to basic essentials in Kennebec and Somerset Counties, funded by the Maine Children's Trust.

They've provided holiday items for us to gift to teens, older kids, and parents, as these items are often more expensive and less frequently donated. They are also providing Thanksgiving meal supports for larger families and families looking for culturally appropriate foods.

This National Case Management Week, celebrate the dedicated professionals who improve patient outcomes, enhance care coordination, and strengthen the behavioral healthcare system every day. 🌟

Case management involves assessment, planning, facilitation, care coordination, evaluation, and advocacy for an individual or family. Case managers promote client safety, quality of care, and cost effective outcomes.

They also connect with their clients on a human level to make them feel seen and heard. One Spurwink case worker shared, "I meet with my 16-year-old client at Starbucks because it makes her feel like a normal teen for a part of the day."

Another shared, "During the holidays, case managers sometimes get gifts for the whole family, including caregivers. One mom told me it was the only gift she would receive that year—and it was exactly what she wanted."

Spurwink serves more than 2,000 individuals through care coordination and case management in Maine. 🤝
