Monday Morning Wisdom

My son on the way to school this morning:
"Mommy, I don't like normal Mondays. I just wish it was Friday."

Same, buddy. Same.
I don't think we ever grow out of wishing Mondays were Fridays.

But what really got me was the "normal Mondays" part.
Apparently, special Mondays are acceptable. It's just the regular ones he has a problem with. 😂

But honestly? I think he speaks for most of us.

🎃 Halloween Weekend Is Upon Us! 👻

Tomorrow night, the streets will be filled with superheroes, princesses, dinosaurs, and approximately 400 children dressed as characters we don't recognize.

Please drive carefully, slow down in neighborhoods, and keep an eye out for trick-or-treaters.

And to all the parents who will be inspecting their children's candy tomorrow night...

We know what you're doing. And we support you!

Stay safe, Bryan County!

Yesterday, we had a great time visiting Richmond Hill Elementary School for their Learning With Law Enforcement event!

We were joined by Richmond Hill Police Department, Georgia State Patrol, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as we spent time with all of the school's second graders.

The students got to learn about the different agencies, meet the officers, and hear answers to questions they had submitted ahead of time. We drew their questions from a hat, and our personal favorite was "What's your favorite snack?" 😂

Asking the important questions, obviously.

A big thank you to Richmond Hill Elementary for inviting us! We always enjoy opportunities to connect with our youngest community members.

This may be the most controversial post we've ever made. 🎃🎄😂

WELL, WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT!

We entered the Georgia Governor's Challenge for the very first time this year.

And when we decided to enter, we weren't about to do it halfway. We put in the work, gathered the numbers, highlighted our programs, and showed exactly what BCSO has been doing to make Bryan County's roadways safer.

Apparently, we understood the assignment.

Last week, the Bryan County Sheriff's Office brought home the Governor's Challenge Special Award for OCCUPANT PROTECTION!

This award recognizes our efforts throughout 2025 to keep drivers and passengers safe through seat belt enforcement, child passenger safety education, community outreach, and innovative traffic enforcement strategies.

And when we started putting together our application, even we were impressed with some of the numbers!

🚔 776 seat belt citations in 2025, up 74% from the previous year.
🚔 62 child restraint citations, an increase of 121%.
🚔 Six special drone-assisted enforcement operations focusing on occupant protection and distracted driving.
🚔 Two seat belt usage surveys, with Bryan County recording an 87% usage rate at the end of 2025.

But here's the part that matters most.

Behind those numbers are deputies who take traffic safety seriously, a team that works hard to educate our community, and an agency that isn't afraid to try something new if it means making our roadways safer.

We are incredibly proud of this recognition and thankful to the Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety for recognizing the work being done right here in Bryan County.

And to our deputies and staff who made this possible, this one's yours! 💙

OH, AND ONE MORE THING... 👀

We also made it to the FINAL TWO for a brand-new patrol car giveaway!

That's right. We were THIS CLOSE to bringing home a new set of wheels, too!
And we're not saying we had already made plans for that new patrol car... but our PIO (aka ME) had already called dibs on driving it home. 😂

In the end, Donalsonville Police Department took home the keys this time. Congratulations to them!

We're not bitter or anything. We'll just be over here admiring our trophy.

Maybe next year they'll let us bring home BOTH!

First time entering the Governor's Challenge.

First award.

Almost a new patrol car.

We might have to make a habit out of this!

The Bryan County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of the situation at the Bryan County Middle/High School. After conducting an investigation, there is no credible threat to student safety at this time.

Please see the attached message from the Bryan County School System.

🚔 Apparently, We've Been Too Serious Lately. 😂

Last week, while attending a meeting, I was approached by a Bryan County resident.

In public.

In broad daylight.

She had something she needed to get off her chest.

Apparently, the BCSO page hasn't been funny enough lately!! 😂

Ma'am, if you're reading this, your concerns have been heard.

We've been a little busy with all the important stuff, but apparently we've been neglecting our responsibility to provide the occasional giggle.

We apologize for this oversight.

Well... sort of.

Anyway, consider this your official notice that your regularly scheduled nonsense will resume shortly.

You're welcome, Bryan County.
