As of now, it looks like there may be some Halloween rain in store (refer to the attached graphic from the National Weather Service). We know we could use the rain, but on Halloween? Boo....

We wanted to give a shout out to our friends at St. Clair County Communications for showing off their incredible talent for decorating. Not only do they work tirelessly to help keep St Clair County safe, but they have incredible talent for decorating and showing holiday and community spirit.

Our St. Clair County EMA team enjoyed being part of the St. Clair County 5th Grade “Careers on Wheels” Expo with 700 fifth graders!

We had the opportunity to explain what we do in emergency management and how we help our communities prepare for and respond to emergencies. We hope our time with these students sparked an interest in a career helping others!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible!

This is a good reminder that it is never too early to start preparing. Have a plan, have a kit, and have multiple methods of receiving alerts of severe weather.

We’re ending our week with a Functional Exercise using our message boards!

Practicing with this equipment helps us stay ready to share important information with the public during emergencies. It’s all part of keeping St. Clair County informed and prepared!

In the emergency management community, we all work together to serve the citizens of our counties and the state as a whole. Sometimes when a disaster hits, counties need help from other counties. This was the case after Hurricane Isaias. Many counties responded to help. St Clair County EMA sent one of their members, pictured here with members of the Montgomery County EMA, to assist with damage assessment in the aftermath of the storm in Escambia County and Conecuh County. In emergency management, we all know it is only a matter of time until St Clair County may need help, and we all stand ready help whenever and wherever it is needed. Disasters do not respect jurisdictional lines, and emergency management is definitely a team sport.
