The SafeCenter

The SafeCenter Empower. Advocate. Educate. Prevent. SafeCenter now serves men and women who have experience intimate partner domestic violence or sexual assault.

SafeCenter was formed in 1983, but became an official non profit organization in 1984, when Janet Holden realized the need for an agency to help victims of intimate partner domestic violence. With help of concerned citizens and many volunteers, SafeCenter was the first safe place for battered women and their children. Philosophy Statement
SafeCenter advocates the right for every person, adult or c

hild, to live in a non-violent environment where individuality and equality are recognized and respected. We seek to maintain a supportive atmosphere wherein victims are able to obtain information, explore options and ultimately make their own choices. We understand that the scope of domestic and sexual violence transcends our local community. Work against societal violence must be achieved through networking at the local, state and national levels. Heightened awareness can lead to changes in society’s attitudes about victims and the conditions which lead to violence. Domestic and sexual violence are crimes that not only affect the victims and their families but society as a whole. Interventions must support survivors and hold abusers accountable through coordinated community responses. Vision:
End domestic violence and sexual assault. SafeCenter services include:

24-Hour Crisis Line (877) 952-7283
Emergency Shelter
Information and Referrals
Individual Counseling & Advocacy
Basic Needs (Food & Clothing)
Housing Programs & Assistance

June is Pride Month. 💜🏳️‍🌈🩵

Domestic and sexual violence within the LGBTQIA2S+ community is real, it's serious, and it affects thousands of people every day.

Love should never hurt. Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued in their relationship—no matter who they love or how they identify.

If you or someone you know if experiencing abuse, help is available. You are not alone and we believe you.

Happy Tuesday! ☀️

Starting today through Tuesday, June 16, we will be hosting a donation drive for a variety of plants and flowers to help make our garden, yard and patio spaces feel like “home” to those who reside with us and come to us for services during the summer season. On Wednesday, June 17 our team will plant everything!

We believe that beauty and nature heals, and we invite you to join us in continuing to create a peaceful, restful, and soothing space for survivors and their children.

We welcome any annuals or perennials, as well as veggie plants for our raised beds at Shelter. To coordinate a donation drop off, contact Caitlin Dilts via phone at 989-723-9716 or email at [email protected]!

Thank you, in advance, for helping us make our outdoor space vibrant and colorful! Please feel free to share widely to help us get the word out!
