All October long, we’re celebrating National School Principal Month by spotlighting our amazing school leaders! Next up in our leadership spotlight is Principal Dr. Kessa Early at Marin Oaks High School and NOVA Independent Study.

Some words from Marin Oaks and NOVA staff:

"During Principal Recognition Month, we are proud to recognize Dr. Kessa Early and the incredible impact she makes on our students, staff, and school community.
Dr. Early leads with compassion, passion, and a genuine commitment to helping every student succeed. She has a special ability to see the potential in each student and, just as importantly, to help them see that potential in themselves. She makes sure our students know that they matter, that they are valued, and that their future is worth working toward.
Her determination to support students goes far beyond academics. She takes the time to understand their individual needs, connects them with resources and opportunities, celebrates their successes, and continues encouraging them when things are difficult. She creates an environment where students feel supported while also being challenged to believe in themselves and reach higher.
That same care extends to her staff. Dr. Early is uplifting, encouraging, and generous about sharing resources and ideas. She recognizes the work of those around her and brings an energy that reminds us that while the work we do is important, there should also be room for laughter, connection, and fun.
What makes Dr. Early's leadership so meaningful is the heart she brings to it. She doesn't simply want students to graduate—she wants them to understand their worth, recognize what they are capable of, and leave our school believing in themselves."

All October long, we’re celebrating National School Principal Month by spotlighting our amazing school leaders! Next up in our leadership spotlight is Principal Karen Freemantle at Lu Sutton Elementary School.

Some words from Lu Sutton staff:

We feel so incredibly lucky to have Mrs. Freemantle as our principal here at Lu Sutton! From the very beginning, she has worked tirelessly to build a strong sense of school pride among both staff and students. Her dedication goes far beyond the school day, as she continually finds meaningful ways to connect with each student. Whether she’s playing Gaga Ball at recess, providing weekly math intervention in her office, power washing our school to make it shine, or planting a new tree or two. Her hands-on approach brings our entire school community together. Her genuine care and dedication create a school environment where students feel a sense of belonging and have the confidence to learn, grow, and thrive. We are so grateful for her inspiring leadership and for all the big and little things she does to make Lu Sutton such a special place to be!
These are just a few things that make Mrs. Freemantle special, but what truly makes her special is what the kids say about her....
Our principal is truly the best principal in the world because she has the kindest heart and cares about every single one of us. She is super cool, has awesome style, and is always happy to help whenever we have a problem. Instead of staying stuck in her office like other principals, she actually comes outside to hang out with us at recess! We love how she respects everyone's traditions and cultures, and she makes school so much fun by planning awesome field trips and cool events like the Kona Ice competition. She is kind, respectful, and always there for us, and that is why she is the absolute best!
