The Marin County Office of Education has partnered with Screenagers for the past few years to bring important conversations about technology and youth to Marin County.

Now, we're sharing an opportunity to attend the Marin premiere of Screenagers: Generation AI -- a new film examining AI’s impact on young people’s relationships, learning, and wellbeing.

The premiere will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker.

When: Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 7:00 PM

This is an opportunity for parents, educators, youth-serving professionals, and community members to learn more about how AI is shaping young people’s lives and join the conversation about navigating this rapidly evolving landscape.

Our inaugural Field Fest was a huge success!

Elementary students and their families from across the District came together for an afternoon filled with movement, teamwork, community and plenty of fun. We were thrilled to celebrate this exciting new District-wide partnership expanding access to engaging PE enrichment for students across SRCS.

A huge thank-you to HeadsUp, our elementary school parent organizations and the National Academy of Athletics - Marin County for helping make this celebration, and these opportunities for our students, possible!

Reminder: Field Fest is tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 28 from 5-6:30 pm at the new Davidson Field! Join us to celebrate community, teamwork and fun!

There will be games and activities, free Kona Ice, giveaways, a raffle and a brief program at 5:30 pm. Meet your child’s PE coach and learn how your school is partnering with HeadsUp and the District to create fun, enriching physical education experiences for our elementary students.

We are making great progress toward all families completing the annual Parent Data Confirmation in the Aeries Parent Portal. Thank you to everyone who has already completed theirs!

If you haven't had a chance to complete yours yet, there’s still time, and we need your help. Completing this process for each student ensures we have accurate emergency and health information and secures essential state resources for our schools.

What a great first day of school, SRCS!

Our campuses were filled with the energy and excitement of a new school year, from our TKers entering their new classrooms to seniors beginning their final year with us. Students reunited with friends, met new teachers and classmates and jumped into a year filled with learning, connection and joy.

We’re excited for all that this year will bring and grateful to our students, families, teachers and staff for making today such a wonderful beginning.

Here’s to an incredible 2026–27 school year!

This morning, we welcomed back our incredible teachers and staff at our District-wide celebration!

We kicked off the new school year with inspiring words from Board President Carolina Martin, on behalf of the entire Board; Superintendent Carmen Diaz Ghysels; SRHS senior Natalie Yax Gonzalez; and our three labor leaders, Tania Morales, Sarah Cushman and Morgan Agnew.

And, of course, the ever-popular spirit contest did not disappoint! San Rafael High, Sun Valley and Venetia Valley brought the energy and cheered their way to victory!

A huge thank-you to our host campus, Terra Linda High School, and to all of our teachers and staff for joining us. We’re ready to bring the joy and excitement into the new school year as we welcome students back tomorrow!

The Marin County Board of Education has launched a provisional appointment process to fill a vacant seat on the board for Trustee Area 2. Applications with an attached resume must be received by the Marin County Office of Education no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026. Under the board-approved process, qualified applicants will be interviewed in open session at a special Board of Education meeting on Sept. 17, 2026. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, a California citizen and registered voter, a resident of Trustee Area 2, and otherwise legally qualified to hold public office.
