Last year, Norwich Police Officers handed out more than 5,000 free ice creams through our Ice Cream Patrol, creating positive interactions with children and families throughout our community.

This summer, we've already received dozens of requests for Ice Cream Patrol appearances at local events. To keep the freezers stocked and the smiles coming, we're asking for the community's support.

The Ice Cream Patrol is not funded through the city budget and relies entirely on donations and sponsorships.

If you'd like to donate: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/serving-smiles-support-norwich-police-ice-cream-patrol

If you're unable to donate, sharing this post is another great way to support our mission of building positive connections between police officers and the communities they serve.

Thank you for your support! 🍦💙

Today, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and whose selflessness have preserved the freedoms we enjoy today. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

As you gather with friends and family, help honor our fallen heroes by looking out for one another, keeping our community safe, and making smart choices.

If your plans include alcohol, please plan ahead for a safe ride home. Driving under the influence puts your life, your passengers, and everyone else on the road at risk. Keeping our roads safe is a responsibility we all share.

Yesterday, we proudly celebrated the swearing-in of Deputy Chief of Police Thomas Lazzaro.

Deputy Chief Lazzaro’s promotion is the result of nearly two decades of dedication, leadership, and service to the City of Norwich. Over the last 18 years, he has served the department in countless capacities from patrolman to fi****ms instructor, fatal accident reconstructionist, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and now Deputy Chief of Police. Along the way, he has earned both the Medal for Exceptional Service and the Lifesaving Award, reflecting the commitment he brings to this profession every day.

His leadership, work ethic, and willingness to step up whenever needed have earned the respect of both his colleagues and the community he serves.

As Chief Daley said during yesterday’s ceremony: “If you need something done, Tom’s your guy.”

Congratulations, Deputy Chief Lazzaro. The Norwich Police Department and the City of Norwich are so fortunate to have your continued leadership.
