It was an incredible experience to have the students, teachers, and parents from Cumberland Elementary School visit us at Strawtown Koteewi Park this month! From learning about Indigenous peoples living along the White River at Strawtown Koteewi Park, to throwing atlatls and picking container gourds, these kids did it all. They also helped prepare for the Pioneer Fall Festival!

We loved having you out and hope to see you again soon!

Certified Nature Journal Educator James Todd will lead us through an afternoon of nature journaling just for Veterans and their guests. Nature journaling is a way of slowing down and provides a reprieve from the constant communication and busy calendars of our daily lives. Nature journaling fosters curiosity, teaches observation skills, and inspires a more creative life.

Hamilton County Parks and Recreation is currently developing an Acorn Farm Master Plan.
Please join us for our next Public Open House on Monday, November 9 at the Cool Creek Nature Center where we will review 2 distinct concepts to gather feedback to develop a final master plan for the park.

Acorn Farm is a 40-acre property that sits along Cool Creek, adjacent to Cool Creek Park. Once home to a nature day camp from 1933 to 1977 and now the site of the Acorn Farm Country Store, has been entrusted to Hamilton County Parks and Recreation to be preserved as a living landscape, carrying forward its legacy of connecting people to nature and inspiring future generations.
