Our hearts are heavy with grief today over the sudden loss of Bobby Suttles. Though he worked for MedCenter Air, he was a member of Drexel Fire Department and the Burke County Rescue Squad locally. We grieve with his family today, especially his brother and our Firefighter's Representative to our Board of Directors, Roger Suttles. May Bobby's memory be a blessing to all who hold it dear.

Please be mindful with the use of fire. Pay attention to dry conditions and wind before burning leaves or starting a campfire.

It's getting to be the time of year for crisp mornings, gorgeous afternoons, and beautiful fall colors! 🍂 This also is our climatologically driest time of the year. Keep in mind these tips to help prevent wildfires. 🔥

NC-18 US-64 is CLOSED just below Chesterfield Fire Rescue due to flooding. The North Carolina Department of Transportation has put up barricades to close the road until the river drops. Do not drive around the barricades!

At 0630, Antioch Road and NC-18 US-64 just north of the firehouse are completely covered in flood waters. Use extreme caution on these areas and do not attempt to cross flood waters you can't see the depths of. Turn around, don't drown.

As of 11:20pm on 10/10/26 we are over 4 inches of rain since the storm's start and we should expect continued rain through the early morning. Drive with caution as it will be extremely difficult to tell the depth of any water that is over a roadway. Remain until this storm moves on.
