Many people have asked me how to reach out about things they know, feel, and want to share with me about things going on within this county.

People can either send me a message directly on this page as many people have already or for people that want to be anonymous you can send mail to:
Avery J. DiGregorio
P.O. Box 23 Starrucca Pa. 18462

The names and information of the people who do reach out WILL NOT be revealed. I do not quote names and details about where I get tips.

With that being said please remember I am still just running and I am not an elected official yet. I cannot change anything but I can make it be more known. The mismanagement must end.

Since the prison got torn down that night I put in a Right-To-Know request, I went ahead and attached the reply below. Apparently they need legal review before they can send me anything else. County has 27 more days before they need to respond. Tik-Tok your time’s running out.

Once the news got out about the prison being torn down the county went ahead and put a news release out. In this release they stated the plan is to get a grant to build “transitional” housing essentially a halfway house that will house ex-cons to help them not be repeat offenders. Even though allegedly there were so few offenders the jail was empty. Now they did mention veteran homes as-well but there’s no actual plan for it. There were a few people at the commissioners meeting on Wednesday 9/23/26 that asked about this including myself and the answers were…. largely unrelated.

During the meeting the county also hired a Human Services Administrator for $106,000/year and transferred a Deputy Human Services Administrator for $95,000/year. Yet the people approving these are the same ones saying our county has no money.

9/22/26 : The Susquehanna County Jail is being torn down right now. This building wasn’t even 35 years old. The building hasn’t even been closed two full years and the current administration closed it and tore it down. Absolute waste and poor management of our county by the current administration. Let’s see what they decide to put in its place I’m sure it won’t be something that benefits the actual taxpayers of our county.

All three of the current commissioners should be ashamed of themselves.

We’ve not seen a single penny of “savings” from closing it. You cost the community jobs and promised them assistance to find new positions and then abandoned them and didn’t help them. But kept two people on for “inmate management” as I’ve already discussed in a previous post.

Susquehanna County is tired of being mismanaged by incompetent commissioners.

On a better note for this week's post, the D&H rail trail project that was awarded a state grant to improve the trail is coming along nicely. They are resurfacing the trail, adding a proper trailhead at the Starrucca section and fixing drainage. Talking with the workers they intend to be done by the end of this year so unfortunately until then the section between Bucks Falls and Stevens point is closed. It's great to see actual improvements to something in our county (Yes the Starrucca trailhead is in Susquehanna county). If you have never got to take a trip on at least part of the D&H Rail-Trail or any of this county's other trails it's a great way to see some of the beauty this county and state have to offer, especially throughout the fall season.
If you are around the area that is currently closed for construction and still want to get out and go on a walk, I recommend the Florence Shelly Preserve, the view from the lookout tower is quite wonderful. Hope everyone enjoys this beautiful fall weekend.

The rot of government mismanagement extends from the grassroots to the capital. Let's talk about the grassroots side, Susquehanna borough specifically. Susquehanna only exists because of the railroad and its historic presence in the town and the town is literally cutting this history away. Now with the main railroad industry gone and no more locomotive shops the entire town consists of small businesses (except Dollar General). Andreas Plonka and his family are the owners and residents of the Starrucca House in Susquehanna PA. They bear sole physical and financial responsibility for the restoration efforts of the 1860s historic structure in hopes to turn the property into an event venue to bring more tourism and business into this town. All of that and more is shown on their page Reviving the Starrucca house. Instead of working and communicating with Andreas and his family the borough has just been fighting with him especially during the new parking lot plans for Ira Reynolds Park even though there is already a parking lot. Blocking and disregarding their easement, causing significant flooding throughout the property, and most recently on 09/10/2026 cutting out the rail road spur for their train station that will significantly affect his properties value and future venues appeal. The Plonkas filed an emergency injunction to save the spur and the court date was set for 9/8/2026 but for unknown reasons the date was pushed back and the Plonkas didn't get their rightful day in court because the borough didn't bother waiting for the court's decision and did irreversible damage on history once again. If the government does not respect and follow the system what is the point in having a system at all. We the people are tired of this whole “ Rules for thee not for me” mentality of the government especially local governments have. The borough has already shown they are willing to take citizens property through eminent domain. What is their plan next to push the Plonkas out and seize the Starrucca House the same way they got the parking lot land by eminent domain? If even the local governments are willing to do this to one of our citizens they would be willing to do it to you as well.

A day in infamy - 25 years ago 2,977 Americans woke up on 9/11/2001 and started their day just like they have hundreds of times before. Getting breakfast and coffee, some running early and some running late. Walking into work not knowing the terrible situation that was ahead of them and that they would never see their families and loved ones again. All of us since will never forget that day. All those who lost loved ones in this terrorist attack our condolences go out to you.

Remember when the current commissioners closed the prison in 2025. You remember when it was to save the tax payers three million ($3,000,000) dollars a year. That same year those commissions also increased taxes in the county. For what? As many of us have asked. No one is real sure.
Let’s not forget they are auctioning off all the contents of the prison so it’ll cost the county millions to reopen it when the time comes.
What they didn’t mention is that we have to pay Wyoming county to house our inmates $80.00/day per prisoner. It is possibly more at Wayne or Lackawanna prisons, however the current county officials have not disclosed that cost. Now keep in mind these aren’t just prisoners convicted. This is ANYONE arrested there are NO holding cells for law enforcement to use in our county. Not only are we paying other County’s for our prisoners, we also have to transport them at our expense. So our already understaffed and underpaid local law enforcement and Susquehanna County Sheriff's Office get stretched even thinner in the multiple hours just one of these transports take.
To top it off the county still pays two (2) “inmate management coordinators” one is salaried at $69,827.03 (J.Karakash) and the other is earning $27.38/hr. (L.Schmidt). My question is why do we have two (2) county employees to manage inmates when we have no jail?
Their pay is also significantly more than what most of our County Detectives and the Sheriff’s Department earn.

Mass surveillance is becoming a increasingly important issue. These cameras simply have no place here in our county in our state or in our country. These cameras are monitoring and recording you while you are traveling taking pictures of you, your car, and your children and keeping these photos and all attached information like your license plates indefinitely in these data centers we are also all fighting.

I will ban these devices from our county. Neither state nor private companies have the right to mass surveillance and it will be stopped.

We the people have to put a stop to this, We the people have the voice and the power.

Below is two pictures one is a picture of the amount of these surveillance cameras in Dickson city/Scranton and the other is right in Union Dale and is the first one in our county placed there at the request of a local company based in Wayne county.

Attorney General Dave Sunday is warning Pennsylvanians to be aware of an uptick in government imposter scams in which callers pose as members of local county sheriff’s offices. The calls appear to come from the county sheriff’s offices due to the use of number spoofing, making their phone number appear legitimate on caller ID.

The caller may claim to be a sheriff and say an arrest warrant has been issued because you failed to appear for federal grand jury duty or missed a court hearing. The scammer then demands payment for “bail” or a “bond” to avoid arrest.

According to the attorney general, no legitimate law enforcement agency or court will demand immediate payment over the phone. No law enforcement agency, government office or court will ask you to pay any outstanding fees with gift cards, Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency. If you receive one of these calls, hang up, verify the information independently and report it to local authorities, as well as the attorney general’s office.
