Walnuttown Fire and Rescue Chief Jeffory L. Buck and Assistant Chief Robert R. Shick were operating a UTV when it was involved in a head-on crash with a car.

Spring is fast approaching which means, brush fires. This is a great time to add a CET backpack pump to your brush fire arsenal. The pump is small and lightweight, and can easily be taken to the seat of the fire if a water source is available to directly fight the fire, or can also be used as an easy way to fill brush trucks at a remote source without have to travel back to an access point to fill off another piece of apparatus losing valuable suppression time in the process.

We would like to thank the Waverly Barton Fire District and the J.E. Hallett Fire Company of the Waverly-Barton Fire District for their order of a MARCO Equipment quick attack pumper.

This unit will be equipped with a 1,250 GPM Waterous pump and 300 gallon water tank. The unit will be mounted on a four door, four wheel drive, Ford F-550 chassis.

We will be updating with more information on this unit from time to time so be sure to check back!

In this post we showcase the SCBA and extinguisher mounting on the Hobbie Quick attack engine. The SCBA are carried in SCBA brackets mounted on a roll out SCBA tray. A spare cylinder is carried rearward of the SCBA. Masked are conveniently located in mask bags hung in the compartment and the apparatus extinguishers are located adjacent for rapid access after donning the SCBA.

The design of the tray makes it very easy to bring the SCBA out to an accessible location while containing all straps on the shelf portion so as to not dangle beneath the compartment causing them to catch.

The attached photos provide a great example of what a well thought out compartment should look like. You can see that even though this mini pumper is small in size, with some thought it doesn't limit it's ability to carry all the equipment needed to fulfill any engine company needs.

Layout design was done with the customer placing emphasis on not only making the equipment fit, but also for best utilization of the available space and placement for the most efficient operations on scene,

In this post we show some of the interior cab features as well as a closer look at the pump panel and hose bed area of the quick attack unit recently delivered to Hobbie Fire and Ambulance.

Special features shown include an electric hose bed cover and booster reel with soft start and variable speed rewind. This apparatus also is equipped with a Trident Emergency Products air operated auto primer. This allows the air primer to monitor pump discharge pressure and automatically activate to attempt to reprime the pump with no user interaction required.
