🚨 VERIZON WIRELESS OUTAGE NOTICE 🚨
Grundy 911 has received notification from Verizon Wireless of an originating call outage affecting multiple sites in our region. Grundy County E 9-1-1 is listed as a potentially affected PSAP.

The outage began at approximately 3:05 PM today, September 3, 2026. Verizon is aware of the issue and is working to address it.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: This type of outage does not necessarily mean all Verizon wireless service or 911 calling is unavailable. However, some customers may experience issues placing calls.

If you have an emergency and are unable to reach 911 from your Verizon phone, try calling from another carrier, a landline, another available phone, or text 9-1-1.

We will provide additional information as it becomes available. This may affect AT&T phones also.

While members of our crew were eating lunch in Altamont between 11 and 11:30 a.m. today, approximately $15,000 worth of tools and equipment were stolen from SVEC trucks.

Among the items taken were several Milwaukee and STIHL brand tools and equipment, and a spool of copper wire.

We are asking anyone who may have been in the area during that time and witnessed suspicious activity, or who has any information that could help identify those responsible, to please come forward.

SVEC is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the theft.

UPDATE!!! We are now back up and running as normal! Grundy 911 currently has no internet. Our admin & 911 lines are both down. If you call 911 it will be routed to Marion County but they will notify us by cell so we can send you help.
