Being prepared can make all the difference when an emergency strikes. Are you ready?

Merced County is offering free Emergency Preparedness Training sessions throughout the County to help residents prepare for potential emergencies, including floods and evacuations.

Learn how to prepare for flooding, assemble an emergency go-bag, and understand evacuation orders. Training sessions are offered in English and Spanish. A special session will also be provided in Hmong.

An Emergency Go-Bag will be provided to participants, but you MUST RSVP in advance!

Santa Fe Drive Rehabilitation Project Update:

The project is now 40 percent complete, with work moving forward toward a projected completion date of November 24, 2026, weather permitting.

Merced County appreciates the community’s continued patience and cooperation as crews work to improve this important roadway. Investments in our local infrastructure help provide safer, smoother and more reliable roads for residents.

🚑 Merced County is changing how some 911 medical calls are handled — including calls from Los Banos.

A new nurse navigation program connects eligible callers with licensed nurses who can recommend care outside the emergency room, helping keep ambulances available for critical emergencies.

Know Your Jurisdiction. Know Who to Call.

We’ve received many questions from residents about jurisdictional boundaries in Merced County, especially when it comes to reporting hazards such as localized flooding.

Knowing whether you live in an incorporated city or an unincorporated area of the County can help you determine which agency to contact when an issue arises. Making that connection can lead to a quicker, more effective response.

At the October 20, 2026, Merced County Board of Supervisors meeting, the following individuals were reappointed to continue serving our community:

Planning Commission

Demitrios Tatum — Reappointed as Commissioner representing District 1 through October 1, 2030.
Kurt Spycher — Reappointed as Commissioner representing District 4 through October 1, 2030.

Merced County Local Child Care Planning Council

Sarah Alvernaz — Reappointed to continue serving as a Consumer Representative through June 30, 2028.

On Monday, Merced County welcomed U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling and California Labor and Workforce Development Agency Secretary Stewart Knox for a visit focused on workforce development, industry partnerships, and agricultural technology.

From advanced manufacturing to workforce collaboration and the future of ag-tech education, the visit highlighted how partnerships between government, education, and business are helping prepare workers for tomorrow’s jobs.
