Adventure is calling, and summer is the perfect time to answer! Whether you're heading to the beach, exploring the mountains, visiting family, or discovering a new hometown gem, every road trip is a chance to make lasting memories.

At Matthews Charter, we know that learning doesn't stop when the final bell rings. Every journey offers new experiences, new places to explore, and new stories to share. We encourage our scholars to stay curious, ask questions, and enjoy the adventure wherever the road leads.

Today we celebrate National Edison Day and the spirit of innovation, creativity, and discovery! 💡

At our Matthews Charter, our scholars are encouraged to think big, ask questions, and explore new ideas every day—just like Thomas Edison. From science experiments to creative problem-solving in the classroom, learning happens through curiosity and perseverance.

Our fifth graders had an amazing time continuing our yearly tradition at Camp Thunderbird! Over the course of the trip, scholars stepped outside their comfort zones, built stronger friendships, and created memories they will never forget.

Students explored a variety of hands-on learning experiences including Nature Art, Aquatic Ecology, Pioneer Life, and Wildlife Ecology. They enjoyed canoeing on the lake, participating in team-building challenges, and competing in the always-fun Wacky Olympics. Evenings were filled with campfires, skits, Liars Club, and of course, s’mores shared with friends and teachers. From outdoor adventures to meaningful learning experiences, our scholars embraced every opportunity to learn, lead, and have fun together.

A huge shout out goes to our incredible chaperones who not only attended, but fully participated in the activities alongside our scholars. Whether they were cheering students on, joining in the games, helping during activities, or making everyone laugh during evening events, they helped create a memorable and meaningful experience for every child. We are so grateful for the time, energy, and care they poured into making Camp Thunderbird 2026 such a success! 🌲🛶🔥
