Good Monday Afternoon. We are watching radar and satellite closely now as our temperatures have reached the temperature point where convection should start to develop and become more widespread. We already have one weak cell that has pulsed up in Northern Rutherford County, a small cell on the state line in Polk County, another cell in Gaston County, and more development up in the lee of Grandfather Mountain. This trend of thunderstorms developing will continue into the evening. Storm Motion today will be ENE at around 20 mph initially. There is a risk of locally damaging microbursts today. The wind shear is currently rather weak, so we shouldn't see large clusters of storms develop until later this evening when the shear becomes more robust. The NWS has indicated that a Severe Thunderstorm Watch could be issued within the hour due to the risk of those microbursts.
