One Last Shift. A Career of Service.

Today marks a special day at the Cornbelt Fire Protection District as Captain Gene Myers works his final shift before retirement.

Throughout his career, Captain Myers has dedicated himself to serving our community, protecting others, and making a difference in the lives of those around him.

While today may be his last shift, the friendships, memories, and impact he has made will remain long after his final call.

On behalf of the entire Cornbelt Fire Protection District, we thank Captain Myers for his years of dedication, leadership, and service.

Gene, congratulations on a well-earned retirement. Thank you for everything you’ve given to Cornbelt, the fire service and the communities you served.

Enjoy your last shift, Captain!

The Cornbelt Fire Protection District was one of several area fire departments that responded to Paxton to assist with a fire this afternoon.

Crews worked alongside neighboring departments throughout the incident. We appreciate the coordination and teamwork of everyone involved.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks at Cornbelt. After experiencing some of the highest call volume in our department’s history, your Cornbelt firefighters spent Monday evening training on live fire operations at our training facility.

Crews worked through multiple scenarios, focusing on fire attack, hose line advancement, search, communication, and coordinated fireground operations.

Training doesn’t stop when the call volume goes up. We remain committed to being prepared when our community needs us.
