Your Cornbelt Firefighters had a great time at the Mahomet Seymour Ag Day today.

This is such a great program for our community, bringing people together, supporting local agriculture, and giving kids and families a chance to learn and connect. You can tell how much pride and effort goes into making this event what it is.

We enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces, meeting new ones, and being part of the day.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and to those who put in the work to make the such a success

Mr. Keith Dawkins, one of the founding members of the Cornbelt Fire Protection District, stopped by today to visit with our members, and it was truly special.

In 1953, Mr. Dawkins and the other 12 founding members of Cornbelt had the vision, commitment, and courage to build something that would protect this community for generations to come. They laid the foundation for what Cornbelt Fire Protection District is today, a department rooted in service, commitment , and neighbors taking care of neighbors.

Because of their leadership and dedication, our community has had dependable fire and EMS protection for more than 70 years. What they started continues every single day through the work of our career and volunteer members serving this district.

We are incredibly grateful to Mr. Dawkins and all of the founding members for what they built and for what it still means to our community today. Their legacy lives on in every response, every member, and every tradition of service that continues today.

Today we recognize Administrative Professionals Day and are proud to celebrate Michelle Morgan, Cornbelt Fire Protection District’s Administrative Professional.

Michelle is often the first point of contact for our district, greeting visitors and callers with professionalism, care, and compassion. She takes care of our firefighters, keeps things organized, and helps ensure our day-to-day operations run smoothly.

Today, we especially recognize the impact of her work. It supports our people, strengthens our operations, and helps us deliver the level of service our community expects every day.

Thank you, Michelle

Perfect weather today for some ladder company operations training.

Our crews spent time working on aerial positioning, ladder placement, and coordinated operations from the bucket. Skills that are critical when seconds matter.

Training like this ensures we’re ready to operate efficiently and safely, whether it’s for rescue, ventilation, or elevated fire attack.

Proud of the work our Cornbelt Firefighters continue to put in every day to stay sharp and serve our community.

It was a busy Monday for the Cornbelt Fire Protection District.

Your Cornbelt firefighters responded to back-to-back working fires within a short period of time.

The first incident occurred at 3515 N. Staley Road (Anderson Elevator). Crews arrived within minutes to find heavy fire involving a piece of operational equipment. Firefighters acted quickly to contain and extinguish the fire, preventing further damage.

Shortly after clearing that scene, crews were dispatched to 1718 Spring Lane for a report of an outside fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found the fire had extended to a fence and was beginning to melt the siding of a nearby home. Crews quickly brought the situation under control and stopped the fire from spreading further.

✔️ Two fires
✔️ Rapid response
✔️ Fires contained quickly

This is what your fire district is here to do—respond quickly, control the situation, and protect lives and property when it matters most.

We appreciate the assistance of our mutual aid partners:
Sangamon Valley Fire Protection District, Bondville Fire, Seymour Fire, Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, and METCAD.
