The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office welcomed some new faces this week!

At the Detention Center, 8 new Detention Officers signed on, along with 2 clerical staff, and 1 inmate programs team member. These men and women will be working out at the county jail at various posts. We are very grateful to welcome each of them to the team.

On the law enforcement side, Sheriff Rowe welcomed a Court Deputy. Deputy Rodriguez is joining the team with some previous peace officer experience. He is a fine addition to our court security detail were he will be ensuring the saftey of the judges, juries, and public in attendance at legal proceedings.

The training cycle will end before you know it! is hosting a no-cost ALERRT Level 1 ( #3311) training this November 14th and 15th. Space is limited. Registration must be done through the ALERRT website. Get your continuing education requirements off your to-do list.

The Lubbock Sheriff’s Academy just wrapped up its 2026 Basic Peace Officer Course. Congratulations to all our new Texas Peace Officers! These men and women put in months of hard work to prepare for their academy final and sit for their state exam. Their commitment to this career path and their dedication to the Lubbock community is just starting; we look forward to seeing what this group can accomplish together.

Congratulations to our Law Enforcement Employees of the Quarter, Deputy Amalla and Deputy Coppi. These deputies worked together to recover items from a string of thefts and breaks-ins in Lubbock.

As patrol deputies, most of their required duties are complete at the end of a service call. Patrol Deputies typically take reports and turn them over for follow-up with the investigations division. But when a stolen bank card appeared to be in use, Deputy Amalla and Deputy Coppi jumped into action. The deputies use a range of tools available to them to identify and locate the suspect, ultimately leading to an arrest. Greta work guys, and thank you for looking out for our citizens!

The Lubbock Regional Public Safety Memorial will pay tribute to our fallen first responders on National First Responder Day.

This week, Sheriff Rowe welcomed corrections professionals from across the state to the Lubbock County Detention Center. Captain Lopez led a two-day event hosted by the Texas Jail Association Programs Committee. The focus was on jail programs and how they impact our greater communities when inmates are ultimately released. Topics included how to step up, manage, and improve upon existing inmate programs offered at jails across the state. Programs discussed included rehabilitation classes, vocational training, educational courses, religious services, and re-entry services.

We are very grateful to be able to host this event. Thank you to everyone who came and shared their expertise.

MISSING PERSON

The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office is currently looking for Mr. Brantly Slocum, 38, with Down syndrome, was last seen at home west of Lubbock, Texas, at 6 pm on 10/7/2026. He is believed to be traveling west on foot. He was last seen near North County Road 1500 and County Road 6400.

Mr. Slocum is wearing a gray or blue shirt and dark blue shorts. It's possible he is also wearing an orange shirt or orange jacket. Mr. Slocum does not have his glasses on him and requires them to see.

At this time, the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office is not asking for volunteers to help search; however, if you see Mr. Slocum please contact us at 806-775-1600.
