We enjoyed spending time in Ms. Zoe Conley’s Kindergarten classroom at Justice Elementary today! ❤️

Her students were happy, engaged, and already doing such a great job with classroom routines and procedures. We loved watching Ms. Conley and her assistant work seamlessly together while checking for understanding and providing students with individual feedback. Students were learning and using vocabulary such as taller, shorter, longer, above, below, and beside and were eager to share their thinking.

Such a fun, energetic learning environment for our littlest learners!

📢 IMPORTANT SCHOOL UPDATE

Logan Middle School and Logan Elementary School will be in session for the full school day today, Friday, September 4, 2026.

We are aware of rumors circulating about a potential early dismissal. Those rumors are incorrect. There will be NO early dismissal at either school.

The air conditioning system has been repaired and is working properly, and both schools will continue with their normal schedules for the remainder of the school day.

📢 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Logan Middle School and Logan Elementary School will be back in session tomorrow, Friday, September 4, 2026.

We are pleased to announce that the AC system has been repaired, and our schools will be ready to welcome students and staff back tomorrow.

Thank you to our students, families, staff, and community for your patience and understanding during this unexpected situation. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow! 🏫💙

📢 EARLY DISMISSAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to an AC system failure at Logan Middle School and Logan Elementary School, along with concerns regarding the current heat index, Logan High School and Logan Middle School will dismiss at 2:00 PM today.

Logan Elementary School will dismiss as soon as the buses return from transporting students from the middle and high schools.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work to ensure the safety and comfort of our students and staff. Please make arrangements for your children accordingly.

Post 3: Math in Action at Chapmanville Intermediate!

Mrs. Browning has created a positive, safe learning environment with her 3rd grade students where they felt comfortable participating and taking academic risks. Students were willing to answer questions even when they were unsure, demonstrating that they understood mistakes are a natural part of learning.

The use of the “rounding roller coaster” was an effective visual strategy that helped students develop an understanding of rounding. Students also demonstrated strong use of appropriate mathematical vocabulary throughout the lesson.

One of the strongest parts of the lesson was the level of student thinking. Students were not only able to answer questions, but they could explain why they arrived at their answers and describe their mathematical thinking. Mrs. Browning’s questioning encouraged students to go beyond simply providing an answer and demonstrate their understanding.

The combination of purposeful questioning, mathematical vocabulary, visual strategies, and a classroom culture where students felt safe sharing their thinking created a strong environment for meaningful math learning.

Post 2: Math in Action at Chapmanville Intermediate!

Great things are happening in Mrs. Maggie Farley’s 2nd grade classroom at Chapmanville Intermediate School!

During today’s math lesson, students weren’t simply asked to find an answer, they were encouraged to think like mathematicians. Ms. Farley began by asking students to identify what the problem was actually asking them to find. Students then discussed different strategies they could use before putting their thinking into action with hands-on manipulatives.

Throughout the lesson, students were engaged, thinking, talking about math, and building a deeper understanding of the concepts they were learning.

Just as impressive was the classroom environment. Ms. Farley’s excitement and enthusiasm for teaching were contagious! Students were encouraged to celebrate their hard work, even giving themselves a “pat on the back” for a job well done.

This is what we love to see in our classrooms: students thinking, problem-solving, using multiple strategies, and having fun while learning!

Post 1: 🌟 First Grade Mathematicians at Work! 🌟

We had the opportunity to visit Miss Stover’s first-grade classroom at Chapmanville Primary School, and what an impressive group of young mathematicians!

Students were actively engaged in mathematical conversations, turning and talking with classmates, using a variety of manipulatives and math mats, and choosing different strategies and tools to solve problems. Even more impressive, these first graders were able to explain their thinking and respectfully respond to the ideas of others. We even heard students say, “I respectfully disagree,” and then explain why! That is powerful mathematical discourse happening in FIRST GRADE!

The classroom routines were equally impressive. Students knew the expectations and transitioned from one activity to the next so smoothly that you might have thought you were watching much older students. To see this level of independence and understanding of classroom procedures so early in the school year was outstanding.

Most importantly, Miss Stover has created a classroom where learning is fun, students feel comfortable sharing their thinking, and young mathematicians are encouraged to explore different ways to solve problems.
