This 1200 acre park has a day use trail as well as an overnight trail. Fishing is a popular activity here. There is also picnic areas and a gazebo that may be rented. More information on this park and many more can be found at the TN State Parks website. Our park office is open from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Oct 27 is Zero Waste Day! Not only does recycling help keep the environment clean for us and wildlife, it helps save energy. Did you know using recycled aluminum saves nearly 95% production energy for more aluminum? Did you know using recycled paper to make more paper requires less water and energy than if more trees were cut down? Recycling can help us decrease the usage of natural resources and help us keep our planet a little greener.

We still have a burn ban on our Back Country Shelters until we get substantial rainfall. There is no burn ban for the main campground or spring creek campground as of right now. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

🚨Important Announcement:

Due to lack of rainfall, we are issuing a Burn Ban in our Backcountry. This includes camping areas at Shelters 1 & 2 on the Eagle Point Trail.

This means that no campfires are permitted. The Burn Ban will not be lifted until we receive substantial rainfall. We appreciate your patience and cooperation!

Did you know?

-Barred Owls may eat up to 1,000 rodents a year. They provide pest control and you do not have to pay them a dime!

-Eastern Grey Squirrels bury thousands of nuts a year. Some of those nuts grow into trees. They are also a food source to other animals. Squirrels are a good example of helping keep the ecosystem balanced!

-Rough Green Snakes eat mostly insects and spiders. They also eat garden pests to help give your plants a better chance to grow!

-Raccoons serve as a clean up crew by eating dead animal carcasses (if they are fresh enough) and fallen fruit. They help slow the spread of disease. They also have five fingers on their front paws!

Why care about wildlife? Some are considered pests including the ones mentioned in this post, but they do serve a purpose to the environment. They can also unintentionally help humans in some ways. One of those ways is just being there to see in nature. We are grateful to be a place where people can come to and potentially see wildlife. We hope to be a place for people to come to learn and just simply enjoy.

This year we are combining National Public Lands Day and Girl Scouts Love State Parks! We are going to repair the hammock poles in our Scout Camp to give our visiting scouts a safe and relaxing way to enjoy their hammocks while visiting. Visit the link below for information and to sign up.

Water quality! Two words that hold a lot of importance to them. Water quality provides a measurement of chemical, biological, and physical condition of water in regards to human health and ecosystem health. We rely off of good water quality for many reasons. In parks like ours, we rely on it to give the wildlife and plants clean water to drink. We rely on it to give our visitors a nice place to visit. By attending programs like our Salamander Creek Crawls and our Creek Crawls, you are assisting us with checking our water quality in our creeks at the park. The more diversity we find, the better off our creeks are. Thank you to all of you who have attended those in the past. If you haven't had a chance to attend one, be sure to look out for them. You are helping us, and you also get to see some really cool critters that call our creeks home.
