Incident of Significant Public Interest
A local business owner reported an incident to the Lincoln Police Department involving a City Council member. Consistent with LPD policy, the Department is actively investigating the matter and reviewing available video and other information to determine whether a violation of law occurred.
Due to significant public interest and consistent with LPD’s commitment to transparency, the Department is releasing available surveillance video of the incident from two camera angles. The video is available on LPD’s YouTube channel linked below.
The surveillance system is motion-activated. As a result, the footage may pause or skip forward briefly when no motion is detected. The video is presented in the sequence recorded by the surveillance system and has not been selectively edited to alter the depiction of the incident.
While the video is relevant evidence, it does not necessarily capture every aspect of the incident. Investigators are reviewing all available evidence, including witness statements and other information, before reaching a determination.
LPD will conduct this investigation thoroughly, objectively, and impartially. A person’s title, position, or status—including elected office—does not affect how LPD investigates allegations of criminal conduct.
The investigation remains active. When complete, the case will be submitted to the Placer County District Attorney’s Office for review and any charging decision.
