Today four of our welding students competed in the South MS High School Welding Competition at MGCCC.

Chandler Fountain and Keaton Lowery competed in first year competitions while Jace Mack and Haidyn Young participated in second year competition.

Bringing home a 1st place in his division was Haidyn Young, winning over $1,500 worth of welding equipment and a $1,000 AWS scholarship. 🥇🎉

Also coming home with a 3rd place win and over $800 worth of equipment was Keaton Lowery.

We are so proud of all of these young men!!!

Congrats Makayla.

Meet our 2026-2027 Mississippi Agriculture Youth Council!! These talented high school seniors from across the state will gain valuable exposure to a variety of agricultural career fields and learn how to advocate for the agriculture industry.

This year's council members include Makayla Howard of Greene County; James Lord of Hinds County; Owen McLellan of Holmes County; Annalyn Cates of Lamar County; Joy Kitchens of Lauderdale County; McKinley Johnson of Neshoba County; Joselyn Brewer of Rankin County; Abigail Gipson of Simpson County; James Freeman of Smith County; and Addison Carney of Wayne County.

Congrats to these two.

Sophey and Makayla attended Proficiency Award interviews about their SAE on Friday, 4/24/26. They both placed in the "Top 2". Sophey's proficiency is in Ag Communications, and Makayla's is Equine Science.

Makayla also interviewed and placed in the "Top 3" for the MS FFA State Star Farmer.

The results will be announced at the MS FFA State Convention in June.
