🚗💥 Your teen just got into a car accident...do they know what to do? Being involved in a collision can be scary, especially for a new driver.

Parents, make sure your teen knows that if they're involved in a serious accident, someone is injured, or there's an immediate safety concern, they should call 911!

Teach them to stay calm, move to a safe location away from traffic if possible, and share three important details with the dispatcher:

📍 WHERE the collision happened

👥 WHO is involved and whether anyone is injured

🚗 HOW the collision occurred

Remember, not every fender bender requires a 911 call. For minor collisions with no injuries or immediate danger, call the Lakeway Police Department's non-emergency number at 512-261-2800. Our dispatchers can help guide you through the next steps. Save this number in your phone and your teen's phone today!

A quick conversation with your teen now can help them make the right call when it matters most. The Lakeway Police Department dispatch team is here to help! 💙

🎃👻 Halloween is almost here, Lakeway! Before your little ghosts and goblins head out for treats this Saturday, Oct. 31, the Lakeway Police Department has a few safety reminders to help keep everyone safe.

🍬 Trick-or-Treaters: Stay in groups, use sidewalks, cross at well-lit intersections and never enter a stranger’s home or vehicle. Parents should accompany children and inspect candy before it's eaten.

🔦 Costumes: Add reflective tape, carry flashlights or glow sticks, and make sure costumes fit properly to prevent trips and falls.

🚗 Drivers: Slow down and stay alert, and never drink and drive! Trick-or-treating is most popular between 5:30 and 9 p.m. Watch carefully for children crossing streets, walking near roadways and entering or exiting driveways.

Have a safe and Happy Halloween from the Lakeway Police Department!
