Heritage Center Park is open to the public all year. The Heritage Center building is open to the public from January through November on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., excluding holidays. The Center is open by appointment only during December. The Heritage Center now has a computer monitor where visitors can come and view recordings of oral histories, special events, or other local recorded activities that have been archived since the early days of Lakeway. A list of the recordings can be provided upon request. Provisions
In the year 2000, the land known now as Heritage Park was deeded from the Lakeway Historical Society, Inc., to the City of Lakeway with the provision that the land may be used, developed or improved to: Further the collection, preservation, storage and display of Lakeway historical items; Be a repository for the official and historical records regarding the geographical area of Lakeway; Develop pride in Lakeway's heritage, growth and development; Educate youth and adults about Lakeway's historical significance; and, Promote Lakeway's historical sites and legends. Following a complete demolition and rebuilding effort of the original Historical Society building in 2005, the new Heritage Center was dedicated on Veterans Day, November 11, 2005. The new construction included the restoration of a portion of the original ranch house erected in the 1930s. New updates were added in 2020. The Center includes an archive storage room, the archivist’s office, public restrooms, a small kitchen, and a meeting room.

🎨 Now on Display at the Lakeway Heritage Center!
We’re proud to feature a signed print of Corinne McClaran’s "Under a Texas Sky Pops Concert". This is a vibrant watercolor capturing the spirit of the Lake Travis Arts League’s beloved 4th of July tradition of an art show, and the Austin Symphony Orchestra’s performance during fireworks.

In 1995, the Lake Travis Arts League held an art show under tents on the grassy area at the World of Tennis in concert with the July 3rd event. Corinne McClaran created her colorful watercolor painting reflecting the evening festivities and whimsy. Her artwork became a local favorite and graced posters and T-shirts. The original was purchased by Jack O’Neill Jr., son of former Lakeway Mayor Jack O’Neill.

Corinne and her husband, Colonel Jack McClaran (soon to be 101!), have called Lakeway home since 1975 and continue to be active community members. They were recognized as one of the remaining long-time residents at the Heritage Committee’s Quarter Century Club gathering this summer.

💙 We hope you can stop by and see her beautiful painting!
