October is Careers in Student Affairs Month, and we are proud to spotlight Kutztown University alumna Erica Nemitz.
Erica earned her Master's in Higher Education Student Affairs from KU in May 2025 and now serves as an Assistant Director of Residence Life at Lehigh University, where she supervises a staff of 18 Resident Assistants and supports them in growing in their role and implementing the Residential Curriculum. During her time at KU, she served as the graduate assistant for Student Conduct, was Vice President of Chi Sigma Alpha, joined the Alpha Epsilon Lambda honor society, and presented at the PASSHE Conference alongside a classmate.
Erica credits her Student Conduct role with teaching her the value of not taking herself too seriously, noting that humor goes a long way through a busy season in student affairs. Jenni Rach in Student Conduct and Dr. Diane Elliott were mentors who made a lasting impact, and her coursework in advising and counseling with Dr. Jones continues to shape her daily work by teaching her how to meet students where they are. Her advice to current students and recent graduates: embrace the awkward, pursue what interests you even if you go alone, start that conversation, and create connections within your community.
We celebrate Erica's success and the dedication of student affairs professionals who make a difference across campuses every day.
