The Kent Festival was a fantastic day where we brought STEM learning to life with our Straw Rocket Launch Station. Community members and students designed, built, and launched rockets while exploring the science of flight. Students excelled as leaders, explaining rocket mechanics and encouraging younger children. We also discussed STEM careers related to rocketry, engineering, and problem-solving, inspiring curiosity in attendees. The event was filled with excitement, smiles, and hands-on learning, showcasing our students' teamwork and communication skills. We're grateful to everyone who participated and celebrated the joy of learning with us!

Earlier this month, Burlington celebrated the grand opening of its first Kent location with a generous $5,000 donation to Scenic Hill Elementary School! 💙
The donation will help provide additional classroom resources and supports for students and teachers at Scenic Hill, where 100% of students qualify for free breakfast and lunch services.
“We were super excited,” said Assistant Principal Erin Martin. “This is going to allow our teachers to access more resources and supports for our students.”
District Manager Ke Hong shared that Burlington is proud to support the Kent community through both jobs and community partnerships.
Thank you, Burlington, for investing in our students, staff, and families!

✈️ Two Kent School District students are soaring toward their dreams after earning prestigious scholarships from The Museum of Flight!
Out of 106 applicants from 31 school districts across Washington, just 16 students statewide were selected to receive scholarships supporting post-secondary education and flight training — and two of them are from Kentridge High School. 🎉
👏 Congratulations to Lauren West and Josslyn Clements!
🎓 Lauren West received the 2026 Frank “Sam” and Betty Houston Flight Training Scholarship. Through Running Start and aviation programs at The Museum of Flight, Lauren discovered her passion for aviation and plans to attend Central Washington University this fall to study professional pilot studies with the goal of becoming a commercial pilot.
🎓 Josslyn Clements received the 2026 Aeronautical Science Pathway Scholarship. She plans to continue at Green River College and pursue a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Science, with dreams of one day becoming a captain for Alaska Airlines.
Both students credited The Museum of Flight’s accessible aviation programs for helping them gain confidence, experience, and a sense of belonging in the aviation field.
From the classroom to the cockpit, Lauren and Josslyn are showing what’s possible when talent meets opportunity. ✈️💙

Memorial Day is a time to reflect on their sacrifice, courage, and dedication, and to express gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy because of them.
As OneKSD, we honor those who served and remember those who never made it home.

From supporting speech and language development to helping students connect, learn, and thrive in the classroom, these dedicated professionals make a lasting impact across our schools.
Their work helps ensure every student feels seen, heard, and supported — because in OneKSD, every voice matters.
