"Ceasefire?" Hmm... 🤔

Palestinians are bracing for a worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered his army to seize 70% of the besieged territory. Israel currently controls about 11% more of Gaza's land than it agreed to under the U.S.-brokered so-called ceasefire deal it signed last October. Israel issued maps to international aid groups in April that showed it already controlled about 64% of Gaza.

“We are now in 60% of the territory of the Gaza Strip. We were at 50%. We moved to 60%,” Netanyahu said at a Thursday press conference in the occupied West Bank. “My directive is to move to — take it step by step — first of all 70. Let’s start with that.” The audience called for him to take over all of Gaza’s territory, according to CNN.

Netanyahu's comments came one day after Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said his government would implement a plan to remove large numbers of Palestinians from Gaza under what he called a “voluntary emigration” scheme.

Remembering the fallen on Memorial Day also means doing better for our current troops.

Memorial Day can’t simply be about mourning the consequences of war after the fact. It must also be about preventing wars before they add more names to memorial walls.

Last week, cowardly Congressional Republicans canceled a War Powers Resolution vote that would have ended the war on Iran, because they knew they would lose. If a war is worth fighting, it is worth debating and voting on.

We must stop this senseless war and defend democracy—and women hold the frontlines.

Here is a chance to build community, get some exercise, and help those in need!

Hello Joplin!

Our May 2026 Critical Mass Group Bike Ride is scheduled to take place as usual on the final Friday of the month (May 29), but our organization wanted to kick it up a notch by converting it into a special community service ride!

We are asking our regular riders, and the community in general, to donate non-perishable food items and/or personal hygiene items for this event.

Our amazing board members and ride leaders will load up the goods and carry them along a special route designed to swing by our community's Blessing Boxes. We will restock these community pantries as needed with the items you donate.

When: Friday, May 29, 2026
Time: Donation drop off: 5:30PM-6:00PM. We depart at 6:15pm.
Location: 4th Street and Joplin Avenue: Southwest Parking lot (by the Larry Jones ghost bike memorial).

Even if you are not joining the bike ride, please consider helping us give back to our amazing community!
