Jenkins Independent Schools would like to express our sincere appreciation to Coach Devin Newsome for his dedicated service and leadership of the Jenkins High School Baseball program.

Coach Newsome has done a tremendous job with our student-athletes over the past 5 seasons, not only developing successful baseball players, but also serving as a strong role model, mentor, and positive influence in the lives of countless young men. His commitment to character, accountability, sportsmanship, and teamwork helped create a culture that extends far beyond the baseball field.

Under Coach Newsome's leadership, the Cavalier Baseball program has shown steady growth and improvement, culminating in a remarkable 2026 season. This year's team recorded the program's most wins since 2018 and finished with Jenkins Baseball's first .500-or-better season since 2018. The Cavaliers also finished among the Top 10 teams in the 14th Region in RPI rankings and ranked second in the entire state of Kentucky with 249 stolen bases as a team.

While these accomplishments are certainly worth celebrating, Coach Newsome's greatest success has been the positive impact he has made on the young people he has coached. He has represented Jenkins Independent Schools with integrity, passion, and pride while helping build a foundation that will benefit the program for years to come.

We are grateful for Coach Newsome's dedication to our students, our baseball program, and our community. Please join us in thanking him for his service and wishing him the very best in the future.

🎓 Graduation 2026 Photo Dump (Part 2 of 2) 🎓

A graduation ceremony is about more than diplomas.

It's about the memories made, the friendships formed, the lessons learned, and the journey that brought these students to this moment.

For our seniors, this chapter has included early mornings, late nights, challenging classes, athletic competitions, performances, field trips, celebrations, setbacks, successes, and countless memories that will last a lifetime.

As they turn the page and begin a new chapter, we hope they always remember where they came from, the people who supported them, and the community that believes in them.

The diploma they received yesterday is not the finish line—it is an invitation. An invitation to build something, serve others, lead well, and make a difference.

What an incredible evening celebrating the Jenkins High School Class of 2026!

This graduating class leaves Jenkins High School with accomplishments that make our entire community proud:

✅ 100% of eligible graduates college and/or career ready
✅ Numerous industry certifications in high-demand career fields
✅ 1,065 college credit hours earned by our high school students this year
✅ Three students who graduated from college before graduating from high school by earning multiple associate degrees
✅ Students prepared to enter the workforce, military, technical programs, and universities across the region and beyond

At Jenkins, we believe students should graduate with more than a diploma. They should graduate with opportunities. The Class of 2026 is proof that students from a small school in the mountains can compete with anyone, anywhere.

A special thank you to Kentucky State Senator Scott Madon for serving as our commencement speaker and sharing an inspiring message with our graduates and families.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Wendy Bentley for capturing these special moments and preserving memories our graduates and families will treasure for years to come.
