The Probation Department is both excited and proud to announce that Jennifer Mynderup has been appointed to serve as the next Chief Probation Officer for Amador County.

Chief Mynderup has been with the department since 2003, and will be the first female Chief Probation Officer in the county's history. During her 22 year tenure, she has attended thousands of hours of training and served in nearly every role and assignment within the department. Since 2025 she has been serving as the Chief Deputy Probation Officer.

As an Amador High School graduate and lifelong county resident, Chief Mynderup's connection and commitment to the community and its citizens has been second to none.

Current Chief Probation Officer Deron Brodehl will retire from the position October 1, 2026, after 26 years of service with the Probation Department. Chief Brodehl's expertise, integrity, and leadership will be missed.

Is your teenager getting ready to drive or recently licensed?
Join the California Highway Patrol Amador Area for Start Smart, a FREE two-hour class designed for teen drivers (ages 15–19) and their parents or guardians.
During this interactive class, we’ll discuss:
• Defensive driving and crash prevention
• California’s teen driving laws
• Distracted and impaired driving
• The responsibilities that come with being behind the wheel
• The important role parents play in helping teens become safe, confident drivers
Many insurance companies offer a discount for teens who complete a Start Smart class. Check with your insurance provider to see if you qualify.

Last week the Probation Department conducted a home search in Pine Grove of an offender on Mandatory Supervision.
During the course of their search officers located a loaded .40 caliber pistol in the nightstand in the offender's room.
The offender is a convicted felon and prohibited from owning or possessing fi****ms.
He was arrested and transported to the Amador County Jail, where he was booked on charges of unlawfully possessing a fi***rm, unlawfully possessing am******on, and a violation of Mandatory Supervision. The fi***rm was booked into evidence at the Amador County Sheriff's Office.

Mandatory Supervision was implemented in California in 2011 as part of the AB109 criminal justice reform which shifted offenders from state prison to local sentences in the county jail and community supervision.
