Happy Father’s Day from Butts County Fire & Emergency Services!

Today, we proudly recognize the fathers within our department and throughout Butts County who lead their families with strength, compassion, patience, and love.

To the dads who answer the call—both at home and in service to our community—thank you for the sacrifices you make, the example you set, and the guidance you provide each day. Your influence reaches far beyond your own household and helps make our community stronger.

We especially recognize the members of our department who may be spending today on duty and away from their families. Your dedication and service do not go unnoticed.

Congratulations to the newest NPQ Fire Officer II graduates!

This course was taught here locally and tested through the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council. Their successful completion of Fire Officer II demonstrates continued commitment to leadership, professional development, and service to the citizens of Butts County.

In Loving Memory of Superintendent Brent Lowe

Butts County Fire & Emergency Services joins our community in mourning the loss of Butts County School Superintendent Brent Lowe.

Mr. Lowe was more than a leader in education. He was a dedicated public servant, a steady voice for our students, and a man who truly loved the children and families of Butts County. His leadership was felt not only in the classroom, but throughout our entire community.

Our partnership with Butts County Schools is stronger because of him. Mr. Lowe opened the doors for us to bring fire and life safety programs into the schools, allowing us to educate, encourage, and protect the students he cared so deeply about. Because of his support, lives were impacted, relationships were built, and safety became a shared mission between our agencies.

We are grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside him, to have known him, and to have been a small part of his life and service to this community. His dedication, kindness, and commitment will not be forgotten.

From all of us at Butts County Fire & Emergency Services: thank you, sir, for your leadership, your trust, your partnership, and your love for Butts County.

We ask that everyone continue to keep Mr. Lowe’s family, the Butts County School System, his colleagues, students, and all who loved him in your prayers during this difficult time.

Three years after a life-changing call, Firefighter/Paramedic Nick Feathers had the chance to reunite with a young patient he once helped save.

While working a part-time job, Firefighter/Paramedic Feathers was approached by this young man, who ran up to him and said, “I know you — you saved me.”

At the time of the incident, Firefighter/Paramedic Feathers was working on an ambulance here in Butts County and responded to a traumatic injury involving this young man. Three years later, the child recognized him immediately and was smiling ear to ear.

It’s encounters like this that remind us why we do what we do. Moments like these make the long hours, difficult calls, and sacrifices worthwhile. Seeing a child healthy, happy, and thriving years after a traumatic event is something truly special.

We are grateful to Firefighter/Paramedic Nick Feathers for his dedication to serving others, both on and off duty.
