September is National Preparedness Month, and this week we’re talking about one of the best places to start: making a plan! 📝

If an emergency happened today, would everyone in your household know what to do, where to go, and how to get in touch with one another? Taking a little time to talk through those things now can make a big difference when you need that plan most.

As you build your family’s emergency plan, think about:
🏠 Pick a safe place for everyone to meet.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Decide who will be responsible for what.
🚗 Talk through how you would safely leave your home or area.
📱 Make a plan for how you’ll stay in touch.
🎒 Consider any additional medical, mobility, medication, or other daily needs in your household.

And here’s a simple prep tip you can tackle this weekend: create an emergency contact card for everyone to keep in their wallet or backpack. Be sure to include an out-of-state contact who may be easier to reach during a local emergency.

A little planning now can go a long way later!

We officially broke ground this morning on the future home of the Butts County E-911 Center & Emergency Operations Center! 🚧

The new facility will bring our E-911 and Emergency Management operations together under one roof, providing a dedicated space for the teams and resources that play such an important role in keeping Butts County prepared and connected.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for today’s ceremony. We look forward to seeing this project take shape and can’t wait to see the new facility come to life! 🥳

It was a special morning at the Butts County Senior Center!

Over the past several weeks, a group of Senior Center members came together and made handmade quilts for children in foster care. This morning, they presented those quilts to CASA, along with suitcases donated by several members. 🧳
