Alligator Advisory:
Because the Clear Lake and Upper Texas Gulf Coast environments are natural habitats for alligators, you should exercise precaution, particularly near waterways, bayous, and lakes. Alligators are a natural part of the local ecosystem in Nassau Bay waters and the peninsula. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department ( TPWD) emphasize safety guidelines.

TPWD advises residents and visitors to exercise extreme caution as alligators are highly active during their mating and nesting seasons. Officials urge the public to keep pets on short leashes, supervise children near the water, and maintain a safe distance of at least 30 feet.

*Never Feed or Harass: Feeding alligators is illegal in Texas state parks and is a Class C misdemeanor with fines up to $500. This includes tossing fish scraps into the water.
*Swimming Precautions: Only swim in designated areas and avoid swimming at dusk or dawn when alligators are most active.
*Fishing Near Alligators: If an alligator shows interest in bait or a caught fish, cut the line and move to a different location.
*Do Not Relocate: It is illegal to capture or move an alligator yourself.
