City of Nassau Bay EMS

City of Nassau Bay EMS Nassau Bay EMS is a critical public safety agency that delivers pre-hospital emergency medicine. Most staff members also maintain CPR-Instructor certification.

The Nassau Bay Emergency Medical Service (EMS) was a division of the Fire Department in the early 1970s. In 2003, Nassau Bay EMS was transferred from a volunteer service to a fully-paid EMS. Our staff consists of EMS Administrator, Chief, supervisors, paramedics, and EMTs. All paramedic staff personnel are required to maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Trauma Life Support (BTL

S) provider certifications. One of our real strengths as an EMS organization has been our progressive standing orders. In 2014, Sandeep Duggal, M.D. became the current medical director for the Nassau Bay EMS.

Engineers at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston will be conducting a pressure test on Saturday, July 9, that will result in a sudden burst of noise from 11AM until 12PM (noon). The test will cause a loud boom that may sound like an explosion to people in the vicinity.

Specifically, the full test will begin at 8AM with the culminating boom likely to come between 11 a.m. and noon.

People nearby and in surrounding neighborhoods and communities likely will hear the test, which will be conducted at the Energy Systems Test Activity area, and only if weather conditions permit.

The City of Nassau Bay recognizes National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week from May 15-21! This is a great opportunity to acknowledge the hard work of the 28 part-time Paramedics and EMTs who serve under the Nassau Bay Volunteer Fire Department.

In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation's communities. National Emergency Medical Services Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine's frontline.

EMS Week is presented by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) in partnership with the National Associations of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT).

This week is Child Passenger Safety Week, an excellent opportunity to review the steps you and your family can take to protect your child by securing them in the correct car seat.
According to Shawn Doyle, Nassau Bay EMS Chief, this week is important because it draws attention to proper car seat use, encourages safety practices to reduce the risk of serious injuries or fatalities, and encourages parents/grandparents/guardians to get seat safety checks.
“Auto accidents are the leading cause of death in children under the age of 13, and the vast majority of those types of fatalities are preventable,” he said. “Approximately 40 percent of children are either not properly restrained in car seats, booster seats or even with seatbelts, and some aren’t restrained at all.
“Nassau Bay EMS has car seat technicians available to work with residents by appointment, and they can show you how to make sure your car seat is secured the right way.”
Call the Fire/EMS Station to set up your appointment at 281-333-4211, extension 2677.
