Keeping Houstonians safe takes strong partnerships and community involvement. Last week, I joined Crime Stoppers of Houston at its “Raise ’Em Up for Texas” Gala to support its work helping solve and prevent crime and protect children.

Thank you to the Crime Stoppers team and everyone supporting programs that help make our neighborhoods safer.

I joined Vote Houston and community partners to highlight nonpartisan voting resources and help Houstonians make their voices heard.

Early voting ends October 30. Election Day is November 3, METRO will offer free rides to and from the polls on participating services. Riders should show their voter registration card.

Visit VoteHouston.org for voting information and links to polling locations.

I am proud to proclaim October 29, 2026, as Nathaniel “Tank” Dell Day in Houston!

Tank, the wide receiver for the Houston Texans, fan favorite, and former Houston Cougar, returned to the NFL field from his injured reserve, reflecting the grit, discipline, and perseverance he carries in overcoming adversity, inspiring athletes, and all Houstonians.

“We’re proud to have you as one of us.”

Houston’s Hispanic heritage is reflected in the people who serve our city every day. At the 2026 Mayor’s Hispanic Heritage Awards, I joined the Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Board to recognize eight individuals whose work in education, health care, the arts and public service makes a difference for Houstonians. Congratulations to this year’s honorees, and thank you for all you do for Houston.

Great to spend Saturday in the Historic East End as the Magnolia Park Sharks took on the East End Eagles for their homecoming games! It was great to see Mason Park full of families, neighbors, and fans coming together to support their teams. Our parks are at the heart of our neighborhoods, bringing Houstonians together.

What happens at City Hall affects daily life across Houston. At the University of Houston-Downtown’s President’s Lecture Series, I joined Interim President Dr. Deborah Bordelon for a conversation about city government and the responsibilities of public service. Thank you to the UHD community for welcoming me and taking an active interest in the decisions shaping our city.
