📚🍎What an amazing week focused on practicing our Leader in Me Habits. When we think with a Win-Win mentality, our possibilities are endless. We ended our week with a Water Obstacle Course. Thank you to all of our amazing PTC and volunteers for helping make this event happen. Also, a huge congratulations to all of our Leaders of the Day! We are so proud of your success! Our littlest scholars on campus are already mastering Habit 4: Think Win-Win!
Whether it’s sharing supplies during center time, taking turns answering questions, or finding creative solutions so everyone gets a turn, these future leaders are showing us that nobody has to lose for all of us to win.
Seeing 4- and 5-year-olds cheer each other on and solve big problems with kind words is the best part of our day. When we work together, everybody wins! 🌟

Ms. Ponce De Leon’s class has been working on a class quilt.

“Stitch by stitch, our class quilt is officially complete!”🧵✨

For the past 8 days, scholars have been weaving the core Leader in Me habits right into their artwork:
* Habit 1 (Be Proactive): Coming up with a plan before they even touch the fabric.
* Habit 2 (Begin with the End in Mind): Envisioning what they want the final masterpiece to look like.
As each student designed their own square, they talked about how every single piece is unique—just like each of them.

“On our own, we are individuals. But when we piece our talents, personalities, and stories together, we transform into one incredible class family.”

A quilt made of many squares, bound together by love, learning, and leadership. Couldn’t be prouder of these young leaders! ❤️🎨

That’s a wrap on our super awesome week learning Habit 1 and Habit 2! 🚀✨

Here is our quick Friday recap:
* Habit 1: You’re in Charge! 🛑➡️🏃
You have the remote control to your own choices! Instead of waiting around or blaming others, you get to decide to be helpful, kind, and proactive.

* Habit 2: Have a Plan! 🗺️🎨
Before you build a giant LEGO tower or start a big adventure, you need a plan! Think about what you want to finish before you start so you know right where you’re going.

Our scholars are!

Today, we are celebrating our amazing scholars who are mastering the art of being Proactive—the ultimate first step in becoming a true leader of yourself.

Before you can lead others, you have to learn how to lead you. So, what does being a leader of yourself actually look like in the classroom, at home, and in life?

✅ Choosing actions over reactions: Taking a deep breath and thinking things through instead of acting on impulse when things don’t go as planned.
✅ Taking extreme ownership: Focusing on the things they can control (their attitude, their effort) rather than blaming circumstances or others.
✅ Initiative in action: Tackling that big assignment today instead of letting tomorrow’s panic set in.

“You are the creator of your own weather. Don’t let someone else’s storm rain on your parade.” ☀️

Spark Big Futures by Teaching Proactivity Today! 🚀
Being proactive isn’t just a skill for adults—it’s a superpower our young scholars can build right in the classroom! When kids learn to take initiative, they build confidence, stay organized, and take ownership of their own learning. Look at our TK scholars learning to be proactive!

Here are 4 easy ways our scholars can practice being proactive at school every day:
🎒Prepare Ahead: Pack schoolbags, sharpen pencils, and lay out homework the night before so mornings run smoothly.
🍎Raise a Hand to Help: Offer to assist a teacher, welcome a new classmate, or lead a group project without waiting to be asked.
📚Own the Next Step: Finish classwork early? Grab a book, start on reading practice, or clean up the workstation independently.
❓Ask Questions Early: Reach out for help as soon as a concept gets tricky, rather than waiting until test day.

🎯 **Begin with the End in Mind!** 🎯

Our scholars put **Habit 2** into action with the classic Marshmallow STEM Challenge!
The mission? Build the tallest freestanding structure to support a marshmallow on top.
The constraints? Only 20 sticks of spaghetti, 1 yard of tape, 1 yard of string, and limited amount of minutes on the clock! 🍝✂️✨

Before snapping a single piece of spaghetti, teams had to pause, picture their final vision, and map out a strategy. Without a clear plan for the end goal (holding that marshmallow up!), towers quickly tumble!

Seeing our young leaders collaborate, problem-solve, and keep the ultimate objective in sight was incredible. Big congratulations to our master engineers! 🏗️💡

At Topaz, our scholars are diving into the 8 Habits, starting this week with a strong focus on Habit 1: Be Proactive!

Being proactive means knowing “I am in charge of me.” Our scholars are learning that they have the power to choose their actions, attitudes, and moods—taking full responsibility for their choices without waiting to be asked.

Here is what Habit 1 looks like in action across our campus:

🖐️ Taking Initiative: Stepping up to help classmates and lead group activities.

🎒 Self-Direction: Managing morning routines and learning materials independently.

💬 Responsible Choices: Choosing positive language, staying focused, and owning their actions.

Bring the Learning Home:
You can help reinforce Habit 1 at home! Ask your scholar today: “What is one choice you made today that showed you were in charge of your own learning?”
