Last night Tyler Jackson was sworn in during the Haddon Heights council meeting to his new position as Lieutenant. This marks another historic milestone as the HHBFD adds a second full-time officer to our staff. This allows us to maintain two properly staffed platoons 365 days a year each with an officer.

Lieutenant Jackson has been with our department starting as an Explorer over 10 years ago and remained an active volunteer until his hiring full-time.

Congratulations Lieutenant Jackson!

Haddon Heights residents, please be aware of the borough ordinance for street parking.

See below post from our partners regarding this information.

This is a reminder about Borough Ordinance 100-9. We understand that snowstorms and extreme temperatures create issues for many residents. We want to work together with our residents and DPW to ensure our roads are as safe as possible.

When there is a warning or prediction of possible snow or ice, ALL on-street parking is denied. This includes vehicles that have been issued overnight parking permits.

Since we do not know how much snow will fall within any given warning or prediction, we must treat each occurrence as if snow accumulation will necessitate plowing or sanding the streets, regardless of how much precipitation falls. Therefore, whenever there are warnings, forecasts, or predictions of snow and/or ice, please make other arrangements to park your vehicles off the street.

If you do not have a space to park your vehicle off-street:

First, please make every attempt to fit as many vehicles in your driveway as possible.

Second, there are Borough parking spaces along West/East Atlantic Ave, along the railroad track.

Third, if you do not have any other option, immediately clear any snow from your vehicle, then once an area around your house is plowed, move your vehicle to the plowed area. This will allow the plow trucks to remove the snow from where your vehicle was previously parked.

The HHBFD is once again asking for the public’s assistance with keeping hydrants clear!

We will be doing our best to clear hydrants as we come by them, but we remind citizens to please assist us as well.

Once again we are sharing a link for residents in both towns to use to mark hydrants either as cleared or not cleared.

A clear hydrant saves critical seconds or even minutes at a fire.

Please keep these routes clear so our DPWs can ensure these are clear so we can respond safely.

This morning the HHBFD along with mutual aide partners responded to the Haddon Heights High School initially for a fire alarm activation. Upon arrival, a smoke condition was discovered on the interior and an upgraded “building” response was requested. A malfunctioning piece of equipment was found to be the source of the smoke.

The incident was quickly contained with no reported injuries to any staff or students.

🚒 Community Help Needed – Fire Hydrants & Snow 🚒

Attention residents of Haddon Heights and Barrington:

After the recent snowfall, many fire hydrants throughout our neighborhoods are buried or partially blocked. Over the past few days, members of the Haddon Heights Barrington Fire Department have been actively digging out hydrants and will continue to do so. We are simply asking for the community’s assistance in helping us keep hydrants clear and accessible.

Why this is so important:

⏱️ Seconds matter in a fire — a buried hydrant can delay crews getting water on the fire

🚒 Faster access = less damage to homes, businesses, and property

❤️ Lives depend on it — quick water supply helps protect residents and firefighters

❄️ Snow-covered hydrants are hard to see, especially at night or during emergencies

💧 Every hydrant counts — blocked hydrants can limit firefighting options in your area

If you can, please clear about 3 feet around the hydrant and a path to the street. It’s a small act that can make a huge difference in an emergency.

We are monitoring the incoming storm this weekend. Impacts are expected to begin late tonight and continue into Monday morning.

The HHBFD recommends the following steps to remain weather prepared.

🔋Keep batteries charged, especially cell phones, flashlights, and any medical devices.

❎Stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Another major impact of this storm is the potential for a significant layer of ice. Icing conditions on roadways are a challenge for any vehicle unless equipped with specific ice-rated tires or chains. If you must drive, drive with extreme caution.

✅Keep fire hydrants clear with a 3 foot radius. If possible, utilize a reflective marker stick to mark hydrants if they cannot be cleared.

❎DO NOT utilize any form of fuel-powered generators or equipment inside or within 20 feet of a home. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer, and is responsible for many deaths annually from generators being utilized improperly. If you are utilizing a generator and start to feel light-headed or sick call 911 immediately.

❎DO NOT utilize an oven, especially a gas-powered oven for heat if you lose heat in your house. Camden County Government provides warming centers if you lose heat in your home and need assistance.

✅Keep any ground level vents for gas-powered appliances clear.

❎Do NOT go near any fallen power lines or telecommunication cables or attempt to move them.

✅Stay up to date by following US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly Barrington Office of Emergency Management Haddon Heights Police Department PSEG Camden County Office of Emergency Management for weather, local alerts, and power outages.

❗️As a reminder, the HHBFD is staffed 7 days a week 6a-6p and other hours are covered by our dedicated volunteers. If you have an emergency during this storm, please call 911.
