Halloween should be fun — not dangerous. While kids are out trick-or-treating tomorrow night, here is what to watch for:
• Children: an adult who seems overly focused on kids, offering candy or rides; a child who looks scared, controlled, or out of place with the group
• Teens: parties with alcohol where older attendees pressure younger teens; offers of costumes, phones, or money with strings attached
• If a child is separated, help them find their group — do not let a stranger take them aside alone
Tips for a safer night:
• Trick-or-treat in groups, with a trusted adult
• Agree on a route and check-in times with teens
• Teach kids: never enter a home or car for candy
• Keep phones charged
If you see something, say something.
