What a fun day at GHS!

Our students and staff brought some great energy to the building today with their creative costumes! It was awesome to see so many smiles, laughter, and people having fun together!

Days like today are a great reminder that school is about more than academics. It is about building relationships, creating memories, and making GHS a place where people enjoy being!

Thanks to everyone who participated and helped bring some extra positivity and fun to the Hive today!

Mrs. Stump's Current Issues Class welcomed Brittany Stoneman, the Community Impact Manager for United Way of Greater Central Michigan, to talk about homelessness and housing insecurity in our community, non profit community support and local government roles. She shared information to seniors and juniors about how to get involved with their communities after graduating high school.

Dr. Sullivan’s Animal Science class spent time today identifying the internal anatomy of a Mya clam as part of their Mollusk unit. This is one of eleven dissections students will participate in this semester.

Amazing things are happening at GHS EVERY DAY!

The reality is that the overwhelming majority of our students do great things every single day. They show up, meet expectations, work hard, support one another, and represent GHS with pride. Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in the negative and overlook just how much GOOD is happening around us!

This past week was an incredible reminder of just how special our students and staff are! From our Jazz Band and Orchestra to our Marching Band and GHS Choirs, we had so many opportunities to witness the amazing talent, dedication, and character of our Yellow Jackets!

The hard work and teamwork are incredible. The problem solving, communication, and perseverance are inspiring. These students continue to show us what is possible when we focus on what we can control: our ATTITUDE and our EFFORT!

Their GET TO mentality is powerful! They GET TO perform. They GET TO work together. They GET TO represent their school. Most importantly, they GET TO be part of something bigger than themselves!

If you ever need a reminder of all the GOOD happening at GHS, come out and support our students! Attend a concert, watch a performance, cheer on a team, or celebrate the incredible things happening in our classrooms. You will quickly be reminded of just how much we have to be proud of!

We have AMAZING students. We have AMAZING staff. And we have an AMAZING school community!

We are excited to share that the GHS Peer to Peer Art class has received the 2026 Innovative Inclusion School of the Year Award from Special Olympics Unified Sports!

Mrs. Simpson and Mrs. VanOrman’s Peer to Peer Art students earned this recognition through their inclusive T-shirt design project and fashion show.

Students worked in teams to design T-shirts that met the following requirements:

Include “Peer2Peer” somewhere on the shirt

Feature a slogan, saying, or logo

Include a graphic

Be colorful and neatly completed

Once the designs were finished, each team selected a model and a presenter to showcase their T-shirt in a fashion show attended by GHS administration and fellow students.

This project was about much more than designing T-shirts. Students practiced collaboration, teamwork, socialization, and communication while celebrating the value of inclusion and belonging in our school community.

We are incredibly proud of our students and the way they demonstrated that everyone has something valuable to contribute. This award recognizes the creativity, collaboration, and inclusive spirit that make our Peer to Peer program so special.

History came to life today at GHS!

Anne Boleyn made a special appearance in World History to help students explore Henry VIII, the Tudors, the Renaissance, and the English Reformation!

What a fun and engaging way to bring history into the classroom and make learning memorable!

Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived!

Please help us congratulate the following GHS Choir members who auditioned for and were selected to perform with the MSVMA Regional Honors Choir:

Harper Betser
Clayton Codling
Saryn Roy

These students will learn a set of music to perform at the regional concert in December and audition for a spot in the State Honors Choir. If you have any of these students in your classes, please congratulate them on their accomplishment and wish them luck as they work to advance to the next level.

Mystery boxes in World History today

History came to life today at GHS! Students kicked off their study of the Reformation by examining artifacts from a mystery box and working together to solve one of history’s mysteries!

What a great way to spark curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and get students engaged in learning! Love seeing our Yellow Jackets learning through discovery!
