Recycling Question: Can I recycle my clothes hangers in the recycling units?

🚫 Nope - plastic and metal hangers can NOT go in recycling units.
Plastic hangers aren’t the right shape to sort properly through the system. The accepted plastics are in the shape of bottles, jugs, tubs, cups, or clear clamshell containers that once held food, drinks, or personal care products.
Metal hangers can tangle sorting equipment, yet they can usually be taken to a scrap metal facility for special recycling as it requires special handling like all other scrap metals.

Delays in Service - Please Share this info.
We want you to enjoy your holiday weekend and ask that you please hold off recycling on Sunday & Monday as the collection services will be delayed due to the federal holiday at the Hub which will not be collected until Tuesday afternoon.
*Please break down all boxes at all recycling sites to save space in the units as collections will be moved by a day for every service site... Thank you for recycling.

Happy Tuesday! We are entering a Federal Holiday weekend so there WILL BE delays with the pickups of the Recycling units next week- Every location will be delayed by 24 hours.
For example: a Monday scheduled pick-up will not happen until Tuesday - a Wednesday pick-up won't be done until Thursday etc...
*Please keep this in mind if you can't wait to recycle your items - Do not leave items on the ground, close the lids when possible and flatten all boxes-Residential Recycling sites are on camera.
Recycle Right-it helps us all.

Happy Beautiful Tuesday!!
As the weather breaks we are finding many more people like to recycle. This is great for our local environment and our community particularly when it's done correctly. Please use the units properly- breaking down all your boxes and by putting only recyclables in the units will help keep this program remain available.
*There is a holiday in the near future and collection services will be limited-many locations that are serviced on Mondays will be delayed-if units are full please keep your recyclables. Regular service schedules (similar to photo) are available on www.HancockEnvironment.com to print by clicking community recycling - location map.
Thank-you for Recycling Right!!

Now that Primary has wrapped up… just a reminder Campaign Signs can not be recycled in the units.

Why? - Plastic recyclables are sorted by shape (bottles, jugs, tubs, cups, clear clamshells)… and campaign signs didn’t make the sort and can jam equipment.

Popular Options:
*Scrap the metal stakes (local scrap yard)
*Reuse the sign for personal use (Graduation / Garage Sale)
*Trash the plastic portion
*No local recycling option for these at this time.

Seeking Community Support... the recycling host sites are voluntary and can be removed at any time upon site owner request. The site on on 236 has opted to remove public recycling units. There are many factors that may contribute to this decision- construction projects, public abuse or property ownership changes. The District would like to provide more recycling location but need the support/permission of host-location sites. Attached is an image of the currently available locations and the expected pick-up schedule.
