The Fair Grove R-X School District is proud to announce the hiring of Joshua Evans as the next Head Football Coach of the Fair Grove Eagles. Coach Evans brings with him an outstanding background as both a competitor and coach, along with a passion for developing young men through discipline, accountability, relationships, and hard work.
Coach Evans most recently served as the Defensive Coordinator at Buffalo High School, where his defensive unit helped guide the program to an impressive turnaround during the 2025 season. Prior to Buffalo, he spent four successful seasons at Marionville High School as Defensive Coordinator, helping lead the Comets to multiple district championships, conference championships, and a Class 1 State Championship. His defenses consistently ranked among the area’s best, highlighted by dominant performances in tackles for loss, sacks, and takeaways.
Coach Evans also previously served as the Head Football Coach at Pleasant Hope High School, where he led the Pirates while also investing in students through physical education and multi-sport involvement.
As a player, Coach Evans built an exceptional resume at Evangel University, where he was a standout defensive lineman and team captain. During his collegiate career he earned numerous honors, including:
NAIA All-American Defensive Lineman
HAAC Defensive Player of the Year
Conference Defensive Player of the Year
Multiple-time All-Conference selection
Team Captain
Evangel University Athlete of the Year
His playing career was defined by toughness, leadership, and relentless effort — characteristics he now strives to instill in every athlete he coaches.
Beyond football, Coach Evans is deeply committed to the total development of student-athletes. His experience in strength and conditioning, physical education, and relationship-building make him an excellent fit for the culture and tradition of Fair Grove Football.
Coach Evans and his wife, along with their children are excited to become part of the Fair Grove community and Eagle family.
