Community Announcement: New Police Chief Hired in Fair Grove

We are excited to announce that the City of Fair Grove has appointed Mark Riggin as our new Police Chief. Chief Riggin brings extensive experience in law enforcement and a strong commitment to community safety.

Chief Riggin's career began with military service, having graduated from the United States Army Military Police School in 1989. He served in the New Jersey and Missouri Army National Guard as a Military Policeman, developing a strong foundation in safety and security.

Following his military service, Chief Riggin joined the Springfield Police Department, where he served for over 24 years. During his time there, he held various positions that allowed him to engage with the community. His dedication to public service earned him several accolades, including the Meritorious Service Award and multiple Life Saving Awards.

Most recently, Chief Riggin served as Chief of Police for the Willard School Police Agency, where he successfully established a K-12 school-based law enforcement program. He was instrumental in developing policies and procedures that enhanced safety within the school environment.

In his latest role with the Missouri School Boards Association, Chief Riggin worked on school safety initiatives, providing training and support to K-12 safety coordinators and law enforcement personnel across the state.

Chief Riggin holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Evangel University, equipping him with valuable insights into human behavior that enhance his approach to community policing.

We believe Chief Riggin will be a tremendous asset to the Fair Grove community, and we look forward to his leadership in fostering a safe environment for all residents.

Please join us in welcoming Chief Mark Riggin to Fair Grove!

Thank you

A big shout out to Time Travel Cafe for their donation to Shop with a Cop. Chief Howell graciously accepted their donation Friday afternoon and they could not be more excited to help!

Chief Howell has developed a great relationship with this establishment and they are some of the biggest supporters of the Fair Grove Police Department!

Stop in and grab lunch and tell them the PCAC sent you (I recommend the Marty McFly burger)!

Tim

Message from the Mayor

Celebrating Our Second Graders!

Today, we had the wonderful opportunity to award the Fair Grove second graders two special proclamations. These bright young minds participated in a fun voting process to determine the City Hall's favorite ice cream flavor and the official City Hall animal. After much anticipation, chocolate emerged as the favorite ice cream, and the beloved dog was chosen as the City Hall animal!

We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Fair Grove School District for inviting the City to take part in the second graders’ Career Day, and a special thank you to Sara Davis, Chandra Scott, and Kelly Petty for their involvement with with Fair Grove School Districts Career Day, which inspired this initiative. Their dedication to community engagement and encouraging our youth to voice their choices made this event possible.

On November 20, we proudly presented these proclamations to Mr. Buffington at Fair Grove Elementary. A big thank you to the teachers and the entire school district for supporting this initiative and allowing us to celebrate our students in such a meaningful way.

We had an amazing time awarding this recognition and sharing ice cream with our second graders.

Thank you

I would to take this time and thank the veterans who have served their country and are now serving the Fair Grove community. First I would like recognize Officer Long who served in the Army National Guard from 2013 until 2021. Next I would like to thank Officer Atwood for his service in the Marine Corps from 2013 until 2021. Last but not least Chief Howell for his service in the United States Army from 1987 until 1995.

Good morning citizens of Fair Grove. Today is a law update day. I want everyone to be fully aware of a law that was passed in 2023, but will be enforced starting January 1st, 2025.

Below is the just of the law:
The law prohibits drivers from using electronic communication devices while driving on public roads, including texting, calling, and recording video. Drivers can use hands-free methods, like voice commands. The only exclusion to this is if you are calling 911 to report an accident/crime that is happening or just happened.

Fines for first-time offenders start at $150 and can increase to $500 for repeat violations.
