Our Lions Park project is starting to wrap up. Our Public Works Department is doing the final grading work of the stone, as a contractor is coming in on Monday and pouring the playground surface. We are hoping to have our ribbon cutting ceremony in mid-November! With the exception of a bit of concrete work that was done by the fantastic local company Zgura Concrete, our PDW has saved us over a million dollars by doing this entire project. Also, be on the lookout for one of our local artists, Matt Halm, as he is putting a mural on one of our buildings at the park honoring our 1st responders.

This data will be used in the county's application for the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Creative District designation and help shape their 5-Year Action Plan.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

The Lehigh County ballot drop box is installed and in place in front of Emmaus Borough Hall. You can drop off your ballot 24 hours per day in the box. Make sure you use this box. If you drop your ballot in our billing drop box, you risk having your ballot rejected by the county. The drop boxes are distinctly different. Here is a photo of the ballot drop box. It is controlled by Lehigh County. The Borough has nothing to do with it other than hosting it. If you have questions or concerns about the drop box, please reach out to Lehigh County.

A message from our Joint Environmental Advisory Council.

The health of the Lehigh Valley—and the future of our soil, streams, and communities—begins beneath our feet.

Native plants build living root networks that hold soil, prevent erosion, absorb rainwater, and filter pollution before it reaches our streams and rivers. Plantings along our waterways can stabilize banks and slow stormwater runoff. When invasive plants take over, these protections vanish, increasing the risks of erosion, flooding, and polluted waterways.

Monday, October 26th at 5PM come help us remove the invasive species along the Leibert Creek next to the Emmaus Public Library. What grows above ground matters—but what happens below ground may determine our future.

We had the honor of being invited to the Eagle Scout ceremony for a young man named Chase Eiss. Several years ago, at barely 15 years old, Chase told us that he wanted to build dugouts at our S. 4th Street baseball field. He wanted to do it as his Eagle Scout project. We thought it was a bit aggressive, as we've had people come and just want to rebuild horseshoe pits or build flower boxes as their project. Well, Chase took the challenge and ran with it. He raised $8,000 and built the dugouts with a team of volunteers and a little bit of help from our DPW. On Sunday, Chase saw his hard work, and his years of dedication be rewarded by receiving his Eagle Scout. Congratulations Chase, and thank you for your volunteerism and hard work!

We are extremely excited to be nearing the finish line with renovation of Lions Park. Our Public Works Department has done the entire project, saving the Borough hundreds of thousands of dollars. This talented group of men built the playground, built the dugouts, built the baseball field, laid concrete, graded the park, placed the landscaping, and completely rebuilt the building, adding a small pavilion and bathrooms. While the project is about a month from completion, we can't thank your team enough for their hard work and dedication to making this project a reality. About 1/2 of the project is paid for by a PA DCNR Grant. After new contractor and engineering estimates projected the project to cost nearly $2 million, our department accepted the challenge to do nearly the same exact project for 1/3 of that cost. Please keep an eye out, as we have a few more exciting additions coming to the project! We are hoping to have a ribbon cutting of the park in about a month.
