🎃🚒 What an AWESOME Halloween! 🚒👻

We had such a great time celebrating Halloween with everyone at our Touch-A-Truck Trick-or-Treat event! 🍬🎃

We were so excited to see all the families who came out to visit us, check out the fire trucks, and show off their costumes! And let us tell you… those costumes were AMAZING! 🤩👏

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who took time out of their Halloween to spend it with us! We absolutely love getting to interact with our community and seeing all those smiling faces!

We hope everyone had a safe, fun, and unforgettable Halloween! We’re already looking forward to next year! 🧡🖤

Join us Saturday, October 31st, starting at 5 PM for some Halloween fun and trick-or-treating! 🍭🍫💀

We can’t wait to see everyone’s awesome costumes, snap some pictures, hand out lots of candy, and show off our fire trucks! 🚒🔥

We’ll kick things off at 5 PM and keep the fun going until the candy runs out! 🍬🎃

Gilmer County Fire/Rescue is honored to announce that we have been selected as a 2026 grant recipient from the Lt. Joseph P. DiBernardo Memorial Foundation. This grant will allow us to purchase 67 personal bailout kits for our firefighters. These kits will be Carried in their protective gear for quick access, these kits provide a critical means of escape through a window if a firefighter becomes trapped by life-threatening fire conditions. The Foundation’s mission grew from tragedy and an extraordinary act of selflessness. On January 23, 2005 a day remembered as “Black Sunday” in FDNY history firefighters battling a Bronx tenement fire became trapped on an upper floor and were forced to jump five stories. Two firefighters died, and four others suffered life-threatening injuries. A third FDNY firefighter died at a separate fire in Brooklyn that same day. During the Bronx fire, Firefighter Jeff Cool offered to use his personally purchased safety rope to lower Joseph DiBernardo. Knowing Jeff had a wife and children, Joe insisted that Jeff go first and helped him escape before attempting his own. Joe survived the fall with devastating injuries and endured a lengthy recovery, during which he was promoted to lieutenant. He passed away on November 22, 2011, as a result of the injuries he suffered on Black Sunday. The Lt. Joseph P. DiBernardo Memorial Foundation carries his legacy forward by helping fire departments obtain personal safety systems and providing firefighter safety education. Through that mission, Joe’s commitment to protecting others continues to make a difference including right here in Gilmer County. We are extremely grateful to the Foundation for investing in the safety of our firefighters. We also extend a special thank-you to our grant specialist, Gina Bennett, for her outstanding work preparing and writing this successful grant. These 67 kits represent more than equipment. They represent an additional lifeline for the firefighters who serve our community and the families waiting for them to come home.

Please be advised that one lane of Yukon Road in the 2800 block will be shut down while first responders are working in the area.

⚠️ Motorists are urged to use caution, slow down, and remain alert. Please do not stop to look at the scene. Keep traffic moving and allow first responders the space they need to work safely.

We know some of y’all can afford that fancy coffee every morning, so surely you can dig a little change out of that cup holder! 👀😂

All jokes aside, every donation is greatly appreciated, and we’re thankful for a community that continues to support us!

🎄❤️ LET’S COME TOGETHER FOR THE KIDS! ❤️🎄

If you know anything about our department, you know we live for the kids of this community. We truly love every opportunity we get to show up for them and support them—whether it’s Touch-a-Truck, visiting the schools, community events, classes, or simply being there when a child or family needs a little extra support. Our department is here for the kids of this community, always. ❤️

That’s why we’re so proud to support this year’s Ellijay/Gilmer Firefighters for Kids Christmas Charity! This year makes 18 years of this generous charity, and we can’t wait to support many more! 🎅🎁

We’re asking our community to come together for a fun night supporting an amazing cause and helping make Christmas a little brighter for local children and families in need.

There will be thousands of dollars worth of raffles, live music, food, drinks, and a whole lot of community spirit! 🎶🎟️

The support of this community means more than you know. Every person who comes out, shares the flyer, buys a raffle ticket, or simply helps spread the word is helping us do what we love most—supporting the kids who make our community so special.

Let’s pack the place, have a great night, and show these kids just how much their community is behind them. ❤️🎄

🚒 Residential Fire Response – B Shift

B Shift responded to a residential structure fire in the Round Top area. Battalion 1 and Engine 1 responded quickly and were first on scene, providing an initial size-up and beginning fire suppression immediately.

Thanks to the quick actions of our crews, the fire was extinguished rapidly as additional units arrived. Most importantly, no civilians were injured.

We’re grateful for the quick response, teamwork, and dedication of our crews in bringing the incident under control safely and efficiently. 🔥🚒
