From the Short-term Rental Department
Tuesday, 8.25.2026:

One of the questions received during the 7.17.2026 ZOOM meeting, the only one pertaining to insurance, is:

“Does the ordinance require STR liability insurance, and if so, what minimum coverage is required?”

The Answer:
Yes, this requirement has been in the Ordinance since the original date of approval in November 2024. Currently, no minimum amount is required. Although uploading the declaration page in the initial application or annual renewal application has not been consistently required, every short-term rental application attestation has this item initialed by the owner indicating that the property is covered by this policy. This is NOT a regular homeowner policy.

Section 45-106 (a) 9 states:
“Owners must affirm that they have adequate property and short-term liability insurance that specifically covers short term rental use and shall provide a copy of the declaration page of the policy with the application.”

Many of the questions posed at the 7.17. ZOOM meeting will be answered in the upcoming amendments to the Short-Term Rental Host License Ordinance. The Short-term Rental Department is planning to host a Q&A Zoom meeting within a day or two after the draft is available. Watch for the date, time, and registration information. And, as always, the audio of the meeting will be made available to the public as soon as possible after the meeting. The upcoming ZOOM meeting will be first come first served basis, open to all interested parties. The meeting will have limited seating available. A registration link will be posted on the STR website within the next week. Plan to join us!

August is National Wellness Month! 🌿

This month is a reminder that taking care of our well-being is an important part of building a healthy, thriving community. Wellness can start with simple choices—staying active, eating nutritious foods, getting enough rest, spending time outdoors, and making time to connect with family, friends, and neighbors.

Throughout August, we encourage everyone in our community to take a moment to focus on their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Even small, positive changes can make a meaningful difference.

Here’s to a healthier and happier community! 💚
