This past Saturday this group of dedicated Eliot Firefighters conducted several evolutions of fire control and suppression in an acquired structure. Temps in the high 80’s prevailed and for the safety of all involved the training was curtailed and the structure was demolished in a controlled burn for the rest of the day.

The EFD will be conducting a LIVE FIRE training burn this weekend 6/13 -6/14 in the area of Raitt Farm. Do not be alarmed if you see any kind of smoke in that area.

Off she goes, destination unknown. This 2002 Central States Engine 4 was traded as part of the fleet upgrade and was replaced by a 2025 Spartan/Smeal Pumper, E-1. It was the first Engine that was purchased by Chief Muzeroll and the Firefighter Committee. The Chief and Assistant Chief Moynahan traveled to South Dakota to inspect it prior to delivery. It has served the community and surrounding area well over the last 24 years, but like a lot of us was starting to show and act its age.

Yesterday around 4:50pm, EFD got called for a MVA roll over involving a cement truck just past the middle school. Upon arrival, the truck was upside down in a ditch with cement all in the roadway. No injuries were reported by the driver and due to the area the truck crashed in, we are happy to report that no turtles were injured! Crews were on scene for a couple of hours to assist with hazards.

According to CMP’s Outage page, everybody in Eliot has had power restored. Hopefully that is true.

If there is a message in any of this……. Storms happen year round that can affect your power. Please plan ahead with what you need to do in the event that you loose power for a substantial length of time.

There are many resources online that can help you figure it out.
