Classrooms First: How the 2026 Bond Projects Would Be Sequenced

Families have asked what order bond projects would happen in if the bond passes. Here’s the plan:

📐 2027: Design and community input. We’ll work with our bond partners and our community to finalize project plans.

🏫 Summer 2028: High School and Robert Kerr improvements will begin through the summer, including much-needed classroom improvements.

🏫 Summer 2029: Middle School and Bertha Neal improvements, including classroom updates, finally followed by athletics site work.

Athletics comes last, by design. Every school building and classroom improvement will be bid before any athletics work is bid, and all building infrastructure work is scheduled ahead of athletics site work. Our approach is simple: the spaces where students learn every day come first.

What an honor for our beloved Mr. B.!

Congratulations to our very own Mr. Birchmeier! At this year's national convention he was awarded the Honorary American FFA degree. This is the highest honor the National FFA Organization can bestow.

Mr. Birchmeier has dedicated many years of his life to the education of students at Durand High School. He has served as a teacher, Advisor, mentor, and above all an excellent role model for those around him. Thank you Mr. B!

Our Equestrian Team officially finished 10th in the state in Division D! We are extremely proud of everything they accomplished, especially since this was the first time in Durand Equestrian Team history that the team qualified for States. It was such an exciting accomplishment for our girls, our team, and our school. Congratulations to coach Danielle Poust and our team of Karly Sergent, Nicole Hook, and Gracie Proctor! 💙🐎💙

🌟🐎 History in the Making 🐎🌟
Best of luck to our Equestrian Team as they begin their State Tournament today in Midland! This is the first time in school history that the team has qualified for State! We are very proud of them and wish them the best of luck this weekend! Let’s go Karly, Nicole, and Gracie! 💙

What is in the bond? One of the slated projects include improvements at the high school in the gym, including replacing mezzanine railings in the gym for safety, as well as: stair flooring, gym bleachers, select basketball hoops, lockers, and plumbing fixtures.
