Durand Fire Department The Durand Fire Department is entrusted with protecting the lives and property of the citizens of this city.

It is a huge responsibility that we all take very seriously. When a new firefighter joins the department, they begin with 160 hours of intense instruction. That is followed up with at least 32 hours of additional in-house training every year. In addition to fighting fires, the Durand Fire Department also conducts fire safety training at the schools at least once a year. We also spend most of our fire department time maintaining the fire hall and all the equipment that we depend on to do our job.

Durand, MI

We’ve been honored to be part of so many of the festivities in our community this weekend, from the Homecoming Parade on Friday, to Harvest Fest on Saturday, and now wrapping up the weekend with our weekly “Clean Up” at the Department today.

Our crews are spending the morning making sure our trucks, equipment, and gear are clean, checked, and in top-notch shape so we’re ready to respond to any situation.

Our firefighters work hard all week at their day jobs, then volunteer their spare time to serve this community. Of course we all agree, it’s worth it. They’re pretty awesome people.

🚨 TRAINING TOMORROW🚨

Please avoid the area around 9450 Lennon Rd (in front of Waste Management) if possible while our live burn training exercise is taking place.

If you must travel through the area, please use caution, expect emergency vehicles and increased traffic, and allow extra time for your route.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as multiple departments train together to keep our communities safe. 🚒🔥

Today, Sergeant Scott and Firefighter DeMars are representing Durand Fire Department with Neighbors United as we honor the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

Today, we remember the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice at the World Trade Center, as well as the thousands of firefighters who answered the call that day and have since lost their lives to cancer.

We walk for those who never came home, those who answered the call, and the families who continue to carry their loss.

25 years later, we remember. We honor. We will .
