Stay weather aware this afternoon/evening and have multiple ways to receive alerts.

11:58 AM CDT — The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded parts of North Texas into a Moderate Risk, Level 4 of 5, for severe storms today.

The highest risk is focused around the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and nearby North Texas, with an Enhanced Risk extending east toward Northeast Texas. Severe storms this afternoon and evening may produce giant hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes.

This is a day to stay weather-aware, especially across North Texas. Have multiple ways to receive warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if storms approach.

2PM - A Tornado Watch has been issued for portions of North and Northeast Texas into Southwest Arkansas and Southern Oklahoma until 900 PM CDT.

Primary threats include a few tornadoes, scattered large hail (isolated very large hail events to 3.5 inches), and scattered damaging wind gusts to 80 mph possible.

SUMMARY...Intense storm development including supercells is anticipated through mid/late afternoon across the region, especially in vicinity of a front and modifying outflow boundary, and perhaps near/just of a dryline across north Texas. Very large hail is possible, along with a tornado risk, with damaging winds also expected to increase by early evening in anticipation of storms clustering/organizing as they move southeastward toward and across the ArkLaTex.

❗️FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE❗️

This morning, shortly after 7:00 a.m., the Honey Grove Fire Department, along with Fannin County EMS, responded to a reported single-vehicle accident with entrapment near the intersection of FM 100 and County Road 2820.
