✈️ MORE THAN A UNIFORM. IT’S ABOUT WHO YOU BECOME. 🇺🇸

Many people come to me wanting confidence, teamwork, and independence. 💪🏽 The Air Force offers opportunities to grow, challenge yourself, and discover what you’re capable of!

Airman Leadership School (College Credit!) is one example of how we continue to develop our Airmen into leaders.

And one of the best parts? Having your office mates and leadership show up to support you at graduation! 🥹💙 It’s more than a career, it’s a team that celebrates your success! 📚

“But what will happen to my kids if I join the military?”

This is a question I hear from many moms and dads who are interested in serving. ❤️ As a military mom myself, I understand that childcare is one of the biggest concerns parents have when considering a military career.

But did you know that the military offers childcare resources that you may not know about?

👶 1. Child Development Centers (CDC) on base

Many military installations have on-base childcare centers for eligible military families. Childcare fees are generally based on total family income and the applicable fee schedule, so the cost may be more affordable than you expect.

💙 2. Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood (MCCYN)

Did you know there is also a program that can help eligible military families afford childcare in their communities?
I personally experienced the difference. I would have been paying over $500 a week, but with the MCCYN program, I pay less than $200! That difference has been such a blessing to my family, and I am genuinely grateful for the help.

✨ 3. You don’t have to figure everything out alone.

Every family’s situation is different, and availability, eligibility, and costs vary. But I want parents to know that there are resources worth exploring before deciding that military service isn’t an option for their family.

As an active-duty Air Force recruiter AND a mom, I want to help spread awareness about the opportunities and support available to military families.
If you’re a parent considering the Air Force and wondering how childcare works, please reach out! I’m happy to help you explore your options.

POV: You joined the Air Force and your training has you in SEATTLE. 🌲✈️🌎

One thing I genuinely love about being in the Air Force is the opportunity to travel, even for training!

I was in Seattle, Washington for training, getting better at my job AND getting to experience a new place along the way.

Your opportunities aren’t always limited to where you’re stationed. Schools, training, temporary assignments, and missions can take you to places you may have never thought you’d go.

So if you’re in high school thinking…

“I want to get out of my hometown.”
“I want to travel.”
“I want to experience something different.”

👀 The Air Force might be worth looking into.

Get paid. Build a career. Learn new skills. See new places. 🌎

4-Mile Ruck Evaluation 🎒
SERE Specialist Assessment & Selection Course (SSAS)
JBSA Lackland, TX

As a future candidate, your initial primary office will be the wide open spaces and your ruck will be your desk. A place to store your office supplies and safety gear. It would benefit you to add ruck preparation to your training. During the initial course at Lackland you will be need to be able to carry a 45-50lb ruck for 4 miles in under 55 minutes. You will be tested on a somewhat level surface. No running or shuffling allowed, but just a faster walk. The average ruck time for a graduate of SSAS is approximately 49-53 minutes to complete the 4 miles.

Start your training with a lower weight, such as 25-30 lbs. to let your body become accustomed to carrying the extra weight. Increase the weight in increments to avoid injury. Walking on hard surfaces like concrete or asphalt has a tendency to tear up feet and create undue stress to the knees and backs. Suggest looking for safe trails, paths, etc... along with having a training partner to motivate and keep you honest.

Note: Initially in training you will use an "Alice” type pack that has an external frame to help with the larger load and provides ventilation for your back. Outdoor stores would consider our pack a "Multi-day Ruck" that has a 50-80 liter capacity (3000-5000 cubic inches). To carry these larger loads safely the pack should have some type of frame, internal or external, good belly/waist band, and shoulder straps with a good chest/sternum strap. Best of Luck and !!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
